This was posted on a congressman's twitter page:

"but the #IranDeal is like giving up Charizard, Blastoise and Machamp for Chansey."

.........

I need to sue him now, for injury to my sides.  :P :D  Seriously though, what.

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

... not sure how I'm supposed to feel about that considering chansey is apparently one of the best special walls in the entire series. That... could be a pretty fair trade, depending on the rest of your team or who you're going up against.

E: Especially among just the first gen stuff, iirc. If my memory's not failing me a properly built chansey can shut down/cause the crushing of entire team comps. Is... is this stealth support from a veteran competitive pokemon player?

I couldn't find an English source online (I read it on the tele text news section), but apparently California just sentenced a Swedish expat to pay back their student loans of 1.5 million crowns. Which is great, because Sweden previously haven't been show to enforce loan repayments in the US and the combined guilt of Swedes living in the states is something like 3.2 billion crowns. And it would be nice to have some of those back. So thank you Obama! Or, well, the California judge/legal system.

1 Swedish crown is about 12 cents, according to Google. So that one expat's been sentenced to pay ~$178,324. The combined guilt of Swedish expats is ~$380,424,640, according to scriver's source.

@cript: 17, yeah. And definitely dipshit parents as RK noted. The kids pretty regularly see about as much or more skin at the beach/pool/etc. or on TV (we'll not mention the internet, or what goes on on school internet connections), and with considerably less educational merit involved. Bonus points in that the illustration is less violent than the more common example (eats, shoots and leaves).

Therein lies all you need to know about America. Guns and killing things are OK. Pasties, a G-string, and correct grammar aren't.

This is now doubly confusing to me, just coming back from Europe, and general European attitudes about sex and nudity vs. violence and guns. It's pretty much the exact opposite. American culture comes off as both really repressed and homicidal.
Uhhh...I think that's what I was saying. Guns/violence OK, sex/nudity (and book larnin') not OK.

you'd think anything the americans do about student loans that does not involve raiding banks and burning the loan papers would be universally despicable but here's scriver with the curveball

I'm expecting Republicans to chime in soon with something about how "Obama sending hard-earned American money to Sweden".
Trump will follow this up with plans to build a seawall in the North Atlantic to keep out Swedes. "They're a bunch of Vikings and lutefisk-eaters. And some of them, I suppose, are good people."

I'd actually be a little surprised, seeing as there appears to be absolutely zero english language news on the subject. California seems to be under the media impression the event in question never happened.

I don't think it really has much newsworthiness to the general public, it's really more of a "no duh" kind of thing (should Swedish organisations be able to force people in America to repay debts to the Swedish government?"). When I said expatriots I meant it loosely, as in any Swedes living abroad, jot just people who have renounced (formally or not) their old citizenship. I just thought it was something happy to share.
