As far as Cuba, I doubt you'll see a rollback. The majority of Republican lawmakers have wanted to normalize with Cuba for a good ten years or more, and the business pressure is there to do so, because of the profit potential. But much like the Israeli lobby, the Cuban lobby is a significant force in GOP politics, especially in Florida.

This gives Republicans cover to say, "Well it was easy to keep the status quo, but to undo normalization now would take some kind of major incident. Without another Remember the Maine!, we can't just cut Cuba off."

What does that text translate to?

Man, the backlash against the Confederate Battle Flag continues. Now TVLand has pulled Dukes of Hazard. I didn't really expect it to start reaching this level. What gets me most about this is it seems to be happening with little push from the actual public. A lot of these are corporate decisions being made.

Its umbrella is a bit wider than just racism, but yeah that's the impression I got as well.

Edit: It's appropriate, really. A flag's purpose is to be a highly visible symbol, but they aren't really more useful than any other similarly sized piece of cloth. People are attacking the highly visible symbol now, instead of what it stands for.

Well, part of that I think is that you can't attack racism where it lives.

You can't really attack prejudice except when it's demonstrated. I've been around so much "polite racism" during the last three years of work, I'm imagining what it would be like to try to have dialog with those folks on their beliefs....and I just don't see it happening.

So instead, people are going after their rallying points.
