What, seriously? Go Rand Paul! (Never thought I'd say that...)

Go Rand Paul!

And now we shall forever remember that time you endorsed Rand Paul (yes, I see the irony).

And now for a more pressing question:

Why does Mitch McConnell increasingly look like a photoshop joke gone horribly wrong?
I think he looks like a frog. The Onion made this joke a while ago.

Anyways, Lindsey Graham has now joined the fray in the republican side.

I hope the republican field gets whittled down faster than it did in 2008 and 2012. Not TOO fast of course.

Also FJ hasn't updated his OP in a while.

Just watched a session of our state Senate in action. Good God, how did we end up with this for a government?

Bunch of middle-aged white guy assholes, futilely opposed by a handful of black women with little skill in public speaking or debate.

i know we went from old white guys beating each other with canes to old white guys and some random people yelling at each other and wishing they could beat each other with sticks in only a couple hundred years. progress has really picked up maybe in another hundred they will finally become some old white guys and a bunch of random people ignoring each other and wishing they could beat each other with sticks and sending strongly worded texts with angry faces.

The internet, a social experiment to see what happens when nobody can hit each other with a stick.

Maybe not the best at that part, though. You get a few stories every year of someone deciding it get up and go hit someone with a stick because of internet stuff. The true stickless experiment will only be able to begin after we have a method of enforcing blanket anonymity for a discussion.

The internet's the prototype, I guess. Experiment to see what happens when it's fairly difficult for the folks involved to hit each other with a stick.

E: Though I guess the experimental results falls along the lines of even less people hitting each other with a stick than in normal discourse, but some particularly obsessive few still figuring out a way to whack someone. Humans are very possessive of their ability to inflict violence on one another, sometimes...

Hm, do you think making public speaking and debate classes mandatory for those in office and repeating every x number of years would be a good idea?

Probably not. They'd need to be subsidized, anyway, and good luck convincing people making the budget to actually allocate funds towards making their opponents more coherent.

Providing the option might be a pretty good idea, though. Tuition credits for such classes for first time elected, something like that.
