Now Mike Huckabee is going to announce his presidential bid.

COME ON DEMOCRATS, GIVE MORE CHOICES THAN HILLARY! :P (of course though, theres also the question of who can realistically go up against the juggernaut that is Hillary).

Or maybe they're waiting for the Repubicans to get more distracted with trying to combat Hillary and each other?

It came with a link from the BBC saying the exact same thing. Is that White enough for you?

Not exactly the same thing - the BBC points out that the report quoted gives no proof to back up their claims, and that there is no independent confirmation either. Al Jazeera makes it seem like it is a proven fact.

They're both clear that the report is witnesses testimonies or the conclusions drawn by BtS. The only difference is that BBC includes the IDF's statement on the issue.

The Al Jazeera article was updated a few minutes after it was posted here and now contains the same IDF statements as the BBC article. So scriver, you're 24 hours late with that statement.

I'm guessing that the Al Jazeera article was published first, the BBC posted theirs after the statement came out, and Al Jazeera updated theirs then too.

I can't believe the Pentagon actually feels it necessary to calm the fears of Texas that they're not about to be invaded by the US military. Any other state in the nation and the response would be "are you a fucking moron?" But because it's Texas who never shuts up about seceding, the Pentagon becomes part of the never-ending Texan political theater.

I bet that if they did seceed, they'd gloat about it for a bit, and then become scared that Mexico is going to invade them and want back in.

I don't think you understand Texas very well. Texas would rather die and become Mexico than appear weak. They'd also like nothing more than to shoot Mexicans by the truckload.

Eh, they'd be too busy with either a civil war or something like half or better of their population getting up and leaving to gloat, I'd imagine. Last I checked texas, for all particularly loud parts of it babble out their arse about succession, doesn't really have a majority interested in it. Not even a plurality, iirc. Probably a larger minority support than in many states, but that's... not saying much.

I just realized why Fiorina's name was familiar.

There is no way in hell I'd vote someone for president who had anything to do with HP. I'm sure if she were president, she'd sign a law, which would fail to do its primary job for reasons unknown. Then she'd assign a task force specifically to fix it, except the task force would turn around the moment it left its offices. Then she'd offer up another task force, to fix the first task force, except the second task force would claim the first task force was still doing its job and wouldn't do its job.

If she were actually a successful CEO who wasn't forced to resign, that'd be one thing, but she mismanaged the company hard from what I know, and laid off lots of people.

Whoever wins, we lose. None of the serious candidates so far are working class, none of them are interested in toppling bourgeois powers, institutions, or building workers into a serious political force. Big capital, big finance, big military industrial. All of them back the numerous wars that the United States is involved in, including the so-called socialist Sanders. No, he's a social democrat, not a socialist. The only question here with these candidates is with whom we lose the least, and the more important question is how do we find a candidate from among our own ranks, how do we build confidence in actual left politics (rather than opportunism).

What about Doc Carson? That's technically working class. unless you mean middle class/lower class.

Mike Huckabee is/was a minister, but I don't know how 'working class' he is.

... you're certainly not going to find many (if any) actual outside-US left-wing candidates in the US working class (or at all, really -- Bernie's one of the "About as close as we get" folks). Not sure if you've missed the memo, but that particular demographic is fairly right-wing in the states...

Beyond that, there ain't no body in this country with a real job that's got the time or money to support a political campaign. Not one. You're either a rich blighter or a non-starter, and with the realities of US geography, there's not going to be much able to change that any time soon.

Yeah, I looked at the democrat ones and didn't really see any. Maybe the closest is Jim Webb, also apparently has a very long military history in his family.

Chaffee did work as a Farrier for seven years, but that was 30 years ago.

Of the republicans though, while wiki doesn't say much about his career, Marco Rubios family is VERY working class.

Rick perry is somewhat working class I think.

No idea about George Pataki, but he seems to have working class roots.

I for one want to see a 100% Libertarian U.S. President. Mainly because I don't live in America and think the whole thing would make newscasts more entertaining.

First order of business should be the sell-off of the interstate highway network. And make law enforcement a user-pays system, while allowing anyone to set up a police department and charge consumers protection insurance money.
