Maybe Ted Cruz will find a way to deport Mexicans into space. Gonna need some heavy lifters for that. And a lot of manpower to build the infrastructure. Luckily, we can use some migrant laborers and....oh. Dammit.

On Romney, pretty much the only reason he won the nomination in 2012 was because he was the least bad of the republican contenders. I'm not sure that the establishment even wanted him to be the nominee.

I think this belongs in this thread.  Especially when the topic is Romney.

Great, Bobby Jindal is buying into this 'no-go' zone crap and thinks it should be implemented. I don't think how much of a slippery slope he realizes that is, why stop there, how about 'no-go' zones for blacks only? Jews?

I in no way, support the idea, just stating the slippery slope of the idea.

Oh, so it was those "no-go-zones". I understood it at first as if somebody wanted to create zones were some people couldn't go in the US.

I do so enjoy watching Jindal make an ass of himself across the seas. Nothing better than an American going to another country and trying to tell them what they're own cities are like, with such concrete statements as "I've heard from some folks that no one goes to Birmingham except for Muslims."

Imagine if a brit came here and stated "I've heard from some folks that no one goes to Detroit but black people."

I think only most of it is. There's still bits that are alright among the sprawling urban ruin, apparently?

I'unno, detroit's a long way from florida.

The issue with Detroit is that it no longer fully exists in this universe anymore. After containment failure was confirmed at the Lake Erie Exotic Physics Laboratory in 1967 the entire area underwent a variable phase shift into a large number of other realities that are now intersecting with this "disconnected" section of our own. While the realityquakes are never stable enough to allow anything else to come through in an organized fashion, the things that get sorted into our world are frequently disruptive enough to prevent what remains of Detroit's population from having a civil society.

While theoretically if somebody were to reach the LEEP they could deactivate the quantum field generator and return the region to something resembling normal, the subatomic void surrounding the facility has destroyed/neutralized all such attempts. That whatever the former scientists of the LEEP now are have been intentionally modulating the field to ensure all intruders are stopped does not help the situation at all. With any luck, the experimental nuclear reactor that powers the field generator will run down to subcritical output by 2035 or so.

Personally, I've always thought the government had reservations about turning it off anyway. What we've learned from the Detroit Zone is irreplaceable, and they're always going to be hoping for the next big discovery to get an edge on the Chinese.
