Eh, it seems to mostly be because that was the wording already on the books, established who-knows how long ago. It probably originated less as a calculated "fuck you" and more out of ignorance, though its current form being maintained is likely because of spite.

E: Well, the entire bill is constructed out of spite, just not directed specifically at islam. They're just cheerful collateral damage to the hate-gays agenda, in this case.

But that's whats so silly, as both you and RedKing have pointed out.  It doesn't stop same-sex marriage which is their goal, since people could simply "convert" to churches such as the ones listed above or the ELCA.

Granted, none of those churches have much presence in Baptist-dominated Oklahoma.

I hear they tried to give it a trendy name, but couldnt come up with a word for drugs that rhymes with christ, and doesn't offend their core demographics.

Dont worry, Oklahoma does not have much pull concerning much of any consequence. 

Texas has excessive pull, because it is one of the few states with broad reaching powers to affect school book selection for the whole of the public school system.  Likewise with California.

Oklahoma? Not much to worry about there. Little to no major economic power, little to no political power, and not much there of consequence other than farmland and a few smallerish cities and towns.

Don't feel too bad, I live in the state north of yours. We dont have a whole lot going on either, and are actually screwing up what little we DO have, by pandering to dangerous interest groups.

Then again, we have the Koch brothers living here, so what do you expect?
