Interesting bit on CBS that the FBI did a trend analysis and determined that from 2000-2006, there were an average of 6.4 active shooter incidents per year. Since 2007, it's averaged 16.6 incidents a year.

So yeah...it's happening more often and that's not just observation bias.

Just a guess, but the economy crashing in 2008 may have had an effect.  That, and wage growth has been nonexistant for awhile may also be a factor.  An actual statistical study would really be helpful.

Bit more detail that witnesses report the shooters in "fatigues" with "automatic weapons". Granted, I don't trust the average person to distinguish an automatic weapon from a semi-auto rifle but I think fatigues are easy enough for people to identify.

"The shootings were in the conference center at the Inland Regional Center, the center's executive director, Lavinia Johnson, told CNN. She believes the county's Department of Public Health was having a holiday party there. Johnson said the fire alarm went off in her building, and people began to evacuate but then the order came to stay in place. Later police came and took people out of their offices."

Of course, when dealing with crazies, everything makes sense to the crazy person no matter how crazy it is.

I wasn't saying that fatigues indicated it actually was the government or something stupid like that. Just that it's more the "look" of a militia nutbag than an ISIS nutbag or a black trenchcoat nutbag.

Updated prelim figures: 14+ dead, 14+ wounded. 1-3 shooters, they're still doing a sweep of the facility which is going to take a while. FOX earlier said that "sources" indicated the LEO's knew the identity of at least one shooter, but SBPD just stated that they have no idea as to identity.

Government buildings, school and shopping malls are getting police protection.

EDIT: No weapons have been recovered at the scene. That seems to diminish the likelihood of a "crazy". This sounds planned and professional.
