Quote from: Hilldawg Clinton
As much as I’ve been investigated and all of that, you know, why would I… I don’t even want… why would I ever want to do email?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPxtv6kcn7s&t=213
Or video, for that matter.  Curse recording media!

Clintonemail.com was registered the day her confirmation hearings began.  Almost like she knew she would be SoS and knew she didn't want public records and government oversight.  Props where they are due, at least she registered it under a fake name... unfortunately, the fake name had been used before for Clinton-related web presences and used her home address and the Clinton Foundation PO box.  This doesn't bespeak a high level of tradecraft and misdirection.  Perhaps we'll discover the state of her encryption and sigint know-how as this story develops.

Quote from: WaPo
The White House on Tuesday said Clinton appeared to have operated in violation of “very specific guidance” from the West Wing that members of the Obama administration use government e-mail accounts to carry out official business.
Ouch, there's the bus.

none of whom are accused of also using private email
That's false, in fact.  There's evidence that Huma Abedin has an account on this server as well.  Philippe Reines was also accused, but there isn't any evidence of this aside from an anonymous State Department source who also named Abedin.  We may never know, because Hillary is politician and no one is going to kick her door in and seize that server and break it open.

Surely congressional hearing are pending.

While I have not yet developed an opinion on the heart of the issue, I think the amount of irrelevant drama is sad, but not unexpected. People who don't like her will attack her, people who do will defend her. As for the real issue of her brand, the drama seems likely to float along for a while, so she should act prudently now to keep the focus off of her.

Anyway, on a topic that actually matters on the ground rather then in abstract, the Supreme Court heard arguments about the Obamacare subsidies case today. The takeaways seemed to be:
  • The four liberal justices (Kagan, Ginsburg, Sotomayer, and Breyer) are going to rule in favor of Obamacare
  • The three most conservative justices (Thomas, Alito, and Scalia) will rule against Obamacare
  • Justice Kennedy seems divided between his textualism and his affinity for state's rights (the former being against Obamacare, the latter in favor)
  • Chief Justice Roberts is competing for the role of the court's strong silent type.

The people to watch are Kennedy, who made arguments both for and against it, and Roberts, who said little. Kennedy voted against Obamacare in the last case but is the usual suspect for a swing vote, while Roberts was the deciding vote last time Obamacare was in the courts and ruled in favor. Interesting match.

When does a Clinton act imprudently?  Excluding Bill boffing his interns. Obviously.

The important thing to keep in mind is that the rules requiring government email addresses didn't go into effect until two years after Hillary stopped being Secretary Of State.

So you are saying that her reckless behavior disgusted everyone so much they changed the rules.

No, the rule changes were proposed before she entered office, it just took years for them to get processed, established, and put into effect. Bureaucracies are slow. In many ways, this is Lewinsky (a non-issue turned into an issue because a fabricated scandal fell apart)  all over again.

So what you are saying is that her villainy was so great that some time traveler decided stopping her was the best use of time travel (literally worse then Hitler).  And she is so powerful that she was able to overcome the time travelers attempts to halt her wickedness.

I'll cheerfully note that if Hilary had spent part of her time in office Xanatosing against a do-gooding time traveler, I would be considerably more likely to vote for her, evil ways or not. That's the kind of expertise you don't see in other potential candidates.

I had a hunch that he wasn't being serious, but I hear enough crap like that (mostly from older people that don't fully grasp that literally anyone can put together a professional-looking website and say whatever the fuck they want on it) that it seemed like a good idea to challenge the statements anyway.

And I'm sure there will be people who try to stretch the wording provided to the loosest possible interpretations.
... the wording there was intentional, wasn't it.

I wrote it.  Proofread it.  Discovered the innuendo.  Nodded in approval to myself.  Posted.
