Or it's an attempt to make Clinton look stronger.

"Wow, look at this! Clinton beat out FDR's corpse, JFK's corpse, and even George Washington's corpse! If that's not the hallmark of greatness, I don't know what is!"

What they really should have done was poll-test her against Bill. She'd lose.

Also, gotta love that one guy who was pulling for Lawrence Lessig -- he had an unfavorable opinion of EVERYONE, and yet still picked them all (even Dukakis) over Clinton.

Sounds a lot like theres at least one person who did the same answer for everybody for the lulz.

It looks incredibly silly and unserious to go and put those people on there, Warren, okay, maybe since she's been floated around. but Dukakis?? I was like 'who's dukakis?' and while I've heard the name before (usually in relation to Bush Sr.), I have no clue who he is. He last ran for president when I was 5 :P

Bla bla bla, we've already established how unserious that PPP poll is, or are possibly shills for Clinton.

We have?  Have we also established how 538, all the major prediction markets, majorities of the democratic caucus in the house and senate and most democratic voters are also "unserious"?

Well considering that their founder and CEO is actively working to influence politics in Raleigh, yeah I don't consider them an impartial firm these days.

No one is saying that having Clinton in the lead is a sign of bias (other than you, trying to set up a snarky strawman). But really...what is the point of poll-testing Clinton against Dukakis? You tell me. Dukakis couldn't win a Little League game, or beat any of the OTHER candidates that they listed.

The dude ran for president in '88 and got squashed. I remember hearing his name on the radio as a kid and thinking his name sounded too much like Streptococcus.

They could have just been adding names to make the field look less anemic, I guess? Dukakis would slot into that scheme as "Someone old people might recognize."

... actually, looking at those three names mentioned again, that almost looks like it aligns pretty perfectly into that scheme. Warren for the young'uns, Kerry for the middle-aged, Dukakis for the elderly.

*shrugs* I'm fairly young too, I think (or at least not entirely middle-aged, yet), and I know the name, at least. The only association with it that my mind has is recognizing it as a really impressive stage name for a male gay porn star, though.

E: Probably perfect for a french or german american, even.

I was only referring to that poll in particular because seriously, as RedKing said, what was the point of including Dukakis? John Kerry and Elizabeth Warren? okay, they're contemporaries and at least active. Plus I was sort of rambling off and being a bit sarcastic.

Heck, a good deal of those respondents basically checked off the 'who's Dukakis?' box.

Hey america don't elect trump please the UK/US relations will dissolve into long discussions of how awful the president/PM's hair is and if he would just like a biscuit to calm down.

'Gurning'? Is that something I can safely google, or wiki?
