So a week or two ago, I said this:

Ben Carson has surged to a tie (23% each) with Trump in Iowa. Can a Trump attack on Carson be far off? And will he go full-retard dog-whistle on the attack and give it a racial subtext?

And I am not disappoint.

Trump says Carson was "heavy into the world of abortion".

I'll give him points for not going racist on the attack. I still think it's only a matter of time before he says something like "Hey, we've already had one black guy as President and look how that turned out!"

It's still kind of dumb in that Carson has near-perfect defense on abortion, having been a fetal surgeon of some notability.

Per Trump, Carson is only "an OK doctor".

"Give me a break...separating conjoined twins? I coulda done that in my sleep. I like twins that aren't separated, if you know what I mean..."

EDIT: Here's the specifics of what he said:

He was a doctor, perhaps, you know, an okay doctor, by the way, you can check that out too, we’re not talking about a great — he was an okay doctor. . . . Because he’s a doctor and he hired one nurse, he’s gonna end up being president of the United States?

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Separating conjoined twins is something carson is known for. Screwing adult twins is something in line with Trump's character, hence the latter bit. RK was probably not actually suggesting trump is an extreme pedophile with a twin fetish. Probably.

Right, but what does "twins that aren't separated" mean? Unless that's the part that refers to sex? Maybe I need more sleep.

It was more of a play on his "I like people that weren't captured" dig at McCain. But yeah, it all adds up nicely to some vaguely unwholesome innuendo about Trump and some Eastern European twins on loan from Hugh Hefner. Cause you know he'd hit that.

It suddenly occurs to me that I've never really heard Hugh Hefner express any political views. I'm sure I can guess his thoughts on at least one issue, but given the early opposition he faced one would think he'd be more involved.

Quote from: Hefner
I was a Democrat in a Republican household before I could even vote.
He's not a big donator, but he's put in over a hundred thousand in political donations over the years to pretty unilaterally liberal politicians. Also expressed views on a fair bit more than just porn, though his public statements are pretty first amendment focused. Relatively low key but pretty damn blunt about being on the left is a fairly good descriptor of his apparent/professed political views.

Anyhow, in the latest polls, the other republicans are giving Hillary trouble.

Also, the flavor of the month effect has slowly been kicking in for sure with Carson.

It'll fade. Carson does have a vulnerability in that some of his research was done with fetal stem cell tissue. Granted, that's because he had the pragmatic, sensible view of "the tissue was already harvested and banked, why not use it?" But that's exactly the kind of rational, wrong-headed libruhl thinking that True Believers are trying to get out of their party.

His bigger vulnerability is that he's a Seventh-Day Adventist. Now to be fair, the GOP actually nominated a Mormon last time. But I think Mormons are high-profile enough that they're considered mainstream, even if they're really not. SDAs are still a fringe denomination. And being that my significant other was raised SDA, I can tell ya they're got some Fruit Loop dogma in play. Lot of anti-government conspiracy theories wound into their belief system. And inevitably someone is going to highlight that the Branch Davidians were a sect of Adventists. (Though, considering how much the GOP nutters rallied around Waco, that might actually play in his favor...)

I know it'll fade, that's part of the 'flavor of the month' effect. Was just making note of the fact that the effect is starting to really kick in.

I think it's because people have some weird idea that he's anti-Establishment like Trump, but without the negatives of Trump. Also, because Trump hasn't shit on him until very recently. There was even talk of a Trump/Carson ticket.

A Trump/Carson ticket could still happen. Just because opponents were flinging mud at each other doesn't mean they can't make peace later on and join the nominee's team.

Anyways, if Trump thinks that Hillary and Kerry are 'the worst secretaries of state ever', I wonder who the heck he'll choose as secretary of state? Maybe that Icahn guy.
