If your socialist or green party gets to be important enough, whichever of the big too parties is closest is all but required to absorb it into their general platform. If they don't, a serious third party run guarantees that they lose.
I dont think he'd do it to prove a point. I think he would tank the world economy out of ineptitude.

So with the all the fun and games of the Republican primary effectively over, do we think we'll see a softening and moderating of Trump to woo those pesky undecideds? Or will he go Full Trump on the general elections?
I'd honestly question the judgment of anyone who still feels unsure, after all this circus, who they'd vote for.
Honestly? When it comes down to Hillary or Trump I have no idea... It's two extremely unlikable candidates... one of which is a known devil and the other is a joker... which card do you pick? Bernie's even soured on me recently, but not enough to make me stop hoping against hope that the dems would see reason to push him into the nomination.
And then there's the misanthropic part of me that wants to vote trump in the hopes he'll ruin everything and we'll hear a resounding chorus of voices from other countries around the world. "I told ya so." And we can start again in 4 years, digging out the rubble of our government services in order to, with bloody fingers, scrawl our votes on burnt and torn public library pages. A mute three armed mutant looms over the election box. Gruff, and statuesquely silent, he watches over the election process. It would be incorrect to say he suffered the worst during the Trump lordship, many more had suffered far worse, and it took thousands of his kind to finally rise up and overthrow the Governtrump, march into the Trump house, and break down the door to the Trumpal Trumpface and put an end to the horror. We'd all suffered of course, but he and his kin, a result of Trump runoff, had suffered worse than most. And now, he and his kin stand watch. Making sure the process goes on. Making sure the selections are fair, and just and that we never forget what our folly had done such a short time ago. Making sure that, we the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity so ordain that we will never make the same mistake again.
