Well, more like the system is going to collapse horribly because all the Boomers are going to keep drawing well into their '80s and '90s with a workforce too small to support them, and then everyone middle-aged and younger is going to be bitter and resentful because they spent decades or years paying into a system that will never benefit them.

Modern tanks, I mean.

This is valid, the Leopard 2 has really defined the modern armored vehicle.

Bah humbug.

What about philosophical tanks in literature?

I'm not sayin' you're wrong, hell I'd probably prefer that over what we got in Canada (woooo British style :V) but it just struck me as funny :P

I'm pretty sure that between Frankowski and Lauder, that's a segment completely cornered by Americans.

and tanks.

I wouldn't mind bringing enlightenment to a poor misguided soul if you want to bring this into the armchair general thread.
Modern tanks, I mean. I've seen you rant extensively about the non-awesomeness of Nazi tanks.

It´s not technically a tank, but the StuG was a solid piece of engineering.

The social security stuff is going to run out in like a decade or something anyhow......

It was kind of eh as a debate, nothing new really, some thrashing of Henry Kissinger though.

It really made me notice this time around just how much Bernie is standing up there banging the same old drum. Hilary at least tried (in her mechanical sort of way) to pander, but Bernie just made his same 1%, remove wall street type comments. His whole thing about FDR was kind of interesting, but still along those same lines.

That's Bernie's flaw: it's a strong single note, but it's still that, single note; which - should he end up in the general election - could wind up to be his downfall.

Did Bernie really name Winston Churchill as one of his heroes? D:

Churchill was a massive racist. (You'll find plenty more by googling)

if he did say that, it probably wasn't because of the racism

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Churchill was also a huge opponent of the "welfare state". Which is part of why the Brits tossed him out on his ass after the war.

To be fair so was literally everyone else at the time. Besides, FDR liked eugenics, and Clinton's Mandela was a violent terrorist before his peaceful resistance thing. That doesn't make  their accomplishments invalid.

You know who else was a racist? Hitler.

....I have no idea how that adds anything to the discussion, it felt like it needed to be said.

That sounds almost like something I could imagine a PETA spokesperson saying with utter seriousness.

Hitler was also anti smoking. you can be terrible and still be right about things or be a good person who holds bad beliefs. the things are not mutually exclusive.
