Fun is the only reason and besides we'd make sure to give the Npcs parachutes so that they can eject themselves from the pod before it hits.

Parachutes require atmosphere to function in first place. There isn't atmosphere in space, so it's pointless. Unless you are thinking about using something completely different technology?

Whatever you guys feel it should be armed with. I'll just moderate within reasons, mainly realism (for example, there's no way you're fitting a death-star output laser on this thing).

Given how you're giving it an FTL drive, it would have to be capable of pushing itself to relativistic speeds for the drive to be at all useful, but bear in mind it takes months of acceleration to reach those speeds.
