The "combat books" is just a title. It's a reaction that shows in the scriptoriums menu, to indicate that the next reactions under it are about combat. Then comes the next title, and the next 10 books. The reaction itself doesnt do anything, it neither costs nor produces anything.

ah right. I had assumed it was like the furniture sets - though looking at those now yeah I can see how they're titles. I guess I was up playing way too late last night.

Is there anything interesting that the gnomes bring thats can be used by dwarfs yet?


annnd I lost that fort to a bronze colossus. first hostile the fort ever had.
I had a bridge at the entrance, but screwed up and left a diagonal tile open. he's currently running around deep in the fortress smashing stuff now, since there's a door holding back the water from a mistake with the aquifer, he's likely going to cause the whole thing to flood, so not much point trying to reclaim either. 

edit: oh! seasonal saves were on, I guess I can savescum.
This time around I've got a zombie dragon. this should be... interesting.

Meph, Thanks again for getting this going again.  I'm sure I'll have lots of !fun with it. 

Question:  Is anyone else having issues with Dwarf Therapist not even connecting, and just freezing up?

you can do the same search on the "Reborn" alpha raws if you want to know what's there.  I suspect Reborn will have a bit less, at least by the time it's done.

Or one sword, one pike, one spear, one axe, one mace, one hammer, one whip, one knife, one crossbow, one bow, one blowgun. And one digger for a complete set, if you go by military skills.

There will be custom weapons, but not many and they all already exist. I can easily port them from the old mod, although Smake is right and there will be a lot less of them in future. At least for the races I'll make, I assume that Orcs and Gnomes still get lots of custom weapons.

I did like the weapons and armor that were only able to be acquired through moods and had special properties. Can we have that back? Pretty please?

These will make a comeback, with grimlockes and stahls armory packs. Two external mods that players can add if they like.

Back to books again, it looks like currently in this version we don't need notebooks etc to study at the library. looking at past version info it apears that to study you need the writing labor turned on, where do I find this? or is it different in this version?
I created the warfare library and want to get a handful of picked dwarfs studying axes. I turned all their labors off then went looking for the labor it would need.

I'm not sure how you like to deal with this stuff but:

Been having several crashes, either during world creation and saving the game.  If you have a particular place for this or need any other information let me know.  :)

I'm just tinkering so not worried that I am unable to save advanced games, but obviously it does limit how much I can learn from one game.  I have autosave off also.

The path fails and double tagged items can be safely ignored AFAIK.

The warpstone reactions fail because you generated a world with no warpstone.  I am pretty sure that fails gracefully too.
