« on: January 06, 2015, 12:38:08 pm »

Hi all!

How can I kill an enemy like this?

Should I use water?

Thanks in advance.

A punch from a small child or a scratch from a kitten should do the trick..... I'm not even kidding.

Fire is actually very fragile. Any attack will cripple or kill it so just bring in your soldiers. Don't pick fight on grass or moss though - wildfire is a serious hazard to your dwarves.

Water will not kill it. It can safely dive into water and it will vaporise around him.

Cool, but wouldn't this likely lead to tongues having a '[SPEACH]' tag, and thus via necromancy we would have nearly unkillable reanimated tongues following necromancers spamming 'it is sad but not unexpected'?

I don't even have any soldiers yet. Could new recruits kill it?

It's the flying, firebreathing blobs composed of steel that you really have to be worried of. Things made of fire, magma, smoke, anything non-solid, really, can be one-shotted by a small child.

More likely then not.

I would try either a corridor filled with spiked traps or some marksdwarves. War dogs or some pets may also do the job. If you're going to send some melee units, then equip them with shields!
Fire can be very !!FUN!!, because dwarves tend to ignore it completly. Don't be surprised if you see a burning lumberjack just casually going to work.

And directly after you see the !!lumberjack!! you will see another dorf innocently picking up a bit of !!armour!! or a !!pig tail sock!! to either stockpile it or put it on himself. Soon after that you have a !!stockpile!!, several !!cats!! a furious and tantruming !!cat owner!! and, before long, a !!booze stockpile!!. Meanwhile, the !!lumberjack!! has caused !!trees!! everywhere, and a goblin siege arrives, and becomes a !!goblin siege!! in short order....

On the other hand, none of your dwarves are fat any more.

Seconding this. Melee is dangerous due to the risk of incendiary attacks. A no-skill marksdwarf firing wood bolts from fortifications should be eventually able to kill it, and gain valuable experience doing so.

Yeah, dust, ash, salt, fire and water are fragile.
Steam can be tricky, if you can land a hit, that is.

If all else fails, cave-ins should be guaranteed kills.

As utunnels said, fire is pretty fragile, so a stone fall trap should even get it.

Forgotten beasts are trap avoid, anything you'll meet made out of steam and such is, other than firemen. Just toss one dwarf supported by dogs at it.

Upward spear trap or marksdorfs should do the trick.

I just reread that.

A gigantic blob, composed of flame....It has a gaunt appearance.

How does a blob look gaunt? Wouldn't a blob look... fat? Rounded? Basically convex? ....Blob-like?
Instead of concave, like something that is gaunt.

I'm actually having trouble visualising this thing.

Well maybe it's gaunt in blob standard.

I wonder if there are fat elves....
