At least it won't be as big a flump as star citizen, no matter what.

Like, it's beautiful and it has great lore, but...
There's like four games on market which do the exact same, and they didnt need $120,000,000 of crowdfund & pre-orders and released years ahead despite starting at similar times

You want a flump? Look up Infinity. Started development back in 2004 and never got much further than some screenshots and video.

According to Wikipedia, no. The only project using their engine is...Infinity. Which is basically vaporware at this point.

They did don't jitters recently. I don't know what the result was.

I mean they did some kickstarters recently. Infinity, that is.

I don't know about you but I have absolutely NO temptation to preorder this.

It is an unproven list of features all of which could be drab and boring at heart.

I don't spend my time inventing ways a game could be amazing.

I do not get the hype for NMS. There have arrays been a ton of games to do infinite procedural generation, and numerous with planets.

It looks like space combat and ...exploring planets? "Ooh, look, a new combination of previously-seen trees!"

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

yeah i initially thought this was just overly optimistic devs but considering this has a $60 price tag im just going to call it a scam.

This game will not live up to its expectations and there will be drama

The Price itself is a ploy known as "Snob Appeal"

As in "If it is expensive, it must be good"

See it isn't a small project, it is a big one!

In the past hour there have been multiple negative posts in a row. That's a sudden increase of sodium levels in my book.

'sides, game doesn't come out for a few months and there's sure to be more coverage of it. How's about we wait and see how it looks in, say, May?

My my, people are so salty all of a sudden.

I am trying desperately not to let people make this another Spore.

If I convince one person to wait until it is released instead of pre-order. I'll be happy.

I don't get the salt either. Is this just because of the mainstream hype and mainstream coverage of the game?
Would everyone act the same way if it was a more sudden spike of interest like it was on Stardew Valley release?

I get it that hype is bad, but I guess everyone here has a good idea of what the game will and won't be. I doubt it will be revolutionary, but I think it'll still be fun.
Spore wasn't worth its price and was a disappointment, but it was a minimally enjoyable game at the very least. I think NMS will be more enjoyable than Spore.
I also don't like the idea of the infinite variation of archetypes, the extreme minimalistic approach to most features and how the universe operates, and the overall arcadey feeling on a otherwise simulation game, but I'd still would love to play it. It looks fun, and that should be enough.

It honestly feels like a lot of their problems came from the fact that their entire team was composed of cats, and the people who were supposed to be herding them were also cats.
