I imagine the hype is so high because they showed enough to give people impressions on what the game would be like and leave the rest up to their imaginations. People will fill the gaps in their minds and envision what they want the game to be, and get hyped based on that instead of just on what they've been shown.

Doesn't mean the game will be bad, just means that, as always, we will have to wait and see.

I was following this with some interest until they mentioned that they generated the planets from scratch each time and din't save everything (Can't remember the source, but it was an official video/interview). Which IMO makes it less an exploration game, and more an observation game, where your interactions have no real effect. Course, I could just be misinterpreting it.

There are interactions? Oh, right, because they added combat.

Also I think people should not be so hype for this right now not be hyped up at all since of all the disappointment of last year FROM HYPE (Watch-dogs would be the best to make a meh game look shit because of the hype)

I started ignoring hype after MoO III and Spore.

This sounds exactly like Shores of Hazeron, with 999% better graphics and 9999% less movement lag

Unfortunately, it's also got 100% less custom starships. And 99.999...% less chance of interplayer war, due to instancing and sheer scale. And both those things make sense from a technical perspective, and the lack of interaction makes sense from a design standpoint if they want something more like Journey than an MMO, but I'm sad at the lack of both. What they're actually trying to do should still be interesting, just different.

"don't save everything" can mean a lot of things. With a shitton of procedurally generated planets and whatever, it might just be that they save memory by not saving complete planetary data, but instead recreating it whenever it is needed. Any modifications made by the players can be saved quite freely.

At least that's what I would do.

Only large changes will be saved -  killing an animal or mining a few minerals won't be saved, but mining out a whole vein or kill a lot of animals will.

Do you know or are you speculating? Because if you're speculating while talking like you know... *cough Spore cough*

It will be a failure, if not, I will be pleasantly surprised.

I'm going to keep an eye on this, but will try to keep my hype levels to a minimum.

See, the thing is that from what I've seen at least, there is no indication of what (if any) interaction the player will have with the environment. From what we've seen, it's just fly, explore pretty places and possibly trade.

I expect this to be a total failure.
