Pfft. Crossbows. They don't have enough dakka. Well, maybe super splinter gun, but otherwise no sir. I need the satisfaction of Steroids dual wielding miniguns, autoshotguns or grenade rifles and splaying carnage with gleeful abandon and questionable accuracy.

This might be the reason I've got 42 hours clocked in, and haven't reached the throne even once. But I can't help myself. So much dakka laying around...

Err ... are the patches meant to wipe your progression? I understand it's early access and all that but having everything wiped for every minor tweak is going to get really annoying.

EDIT: Hammerhead needs to be activatable to have any use. Right now it's too easy to destroy walls when panicking. I would probably make it so melee strikes destroy walls when you're hugging them.

Yes. I think it's intentional (reason unknown). Expect a reset every week.

It could have to do with fiddling with unlocks? It won't be as easy to get everything in release or later versions of the early access, or so I garnered from the video I linked.

Nah, on every release it'll reset. I'm not sure why they release it like that, since the savefiles are so basic, but maybe they are doing tweaks constantly.

If you want to edit them, the savefiles are in user\AppData\local\nuclearthrone, just use the .sav file with the largest number. If you want to unlock all the characters again, change any '0's under "DATA" to '1's, until you hit '56', or line 139 in this version.

Ordered off Humble and got a free copy. Woot. Don't have a 360 controller. Wo....fuck. x360ce doesn't work right.

Works better with a mouse and keyboard anyway.

EDIT: Would love to see a mutation that increases reflected projectile damage.

I've been playing a lot of YV, though Horror and Robot can be fun to smooth out the RNG. I did one run with YV that beat the throne with only gold weapons... you can only get one drop pre-loop in the mansion, so in this case it was with the revolver and a grenade launcher. I died in palace before the second loop though, having upgraded from revolver to wrench.

I have not gotten past 3_3 5_1 yet.

Energy hammer plus 5_1 = explosions and death.

Mimics?! WTF

The trick with detecting mimics is that normal ammo chests will have a little shine animation after a short while, while mimics will occasionally lick their chops and play a bit of audio. In fact, you can hear the audio anywhere in the level I think, so if you know what to listen for, you'll know there's a mimic, similarly to the assassin grunts or constant raven squawking.

You can also just shoot every ammo chest from sewers on to check.

Nah, you shouldn't see any in desert until post-loop. Maybe it was a maggot hiding under a chest or something.

Anywho, just updooted. New ultramutations (tried out YV's, it's pretty funny), new gold weapons, some bug fixes and balance changes. The new sounds are great, and a bunch of placeholder art got replaced. They say the early portal on Big Dog got fixed, but funnily enough I just played a run where Big Dog never spawned, so I think they dun goofed. I think the bug where weapons on the ground fail to travel through the portal (and end up stuck in the next level's walls) got fixed, but I'm not sure.
