Aesalam grabs a sample of mold before Vera closes the portal, She then reattempts to open a portal to the dimension of bread, However her portal leads to the dimension of Sasquatches and Beaches where you can quite clearly see Fracas struggling to stay above water.

Vera moves the portal's location on the Plane of Beaches and Sasquatches towards Fracas to scoop him out of the plane. Likely with a bit of sand, water, and maybe a Sasquatch if unlucky.

Fracas beats the hand with his staff and gives it 3rd degree burns forcing it to let go, He also sees a Portal back to the Material Plane roughly 50 feet away.
