My trip to the Grey Mountains was much nicer this time since it was mid-summer, and there was no risk of snow. Dog had no trouble with the foothills, and I soon found myself greeted by the dwarves and ushered below the mountains.
The Dwarf King had a scowl on his bearded face when I met him. He didn't get out of his throne, but instead sat before me with his thick arms folded in front of him.
"Your king has been very unfair to us," he stated gruffly, referring to King Gareth. "The tariffs he put on our goods are crippling our economy, and nobody can afford our weapons and armor."
(Geography +5)
I used the Dragonwish.
I decided to increase the tariffs.
I set the tariff to a fair level. (Needs 25 Economics)I set the tariff to a level that would seem fair but benefit the kingdom. (Needs 30 Economics and 30 Smithing)
The Dwarf King was a reasonable ruler and came up with a great solution. (Needs 65 Dwarf Faction)I agreed to fully remove the tariffs.
The idea of laying tariffs on imported goods had merit since it increased the amount of money coming into our treasury and allowed our kingdom blacksmiths to have an edge in the metal market. The dwarves were happy as well because it was so much better than before.

I went to the Orc Chieftain.I stopped working on foreign relations and turned my attention elsewhere.
The journey into the wildlands went well, and I didn't encounter any danger. The Orc Chieftain was wary of me since he had been treated poorly by King Gareth. The dungeons were still overflowing with orc prisoners, all having been incarcerated without trial. Although many of them were guilty of their crimes, the Orc Chieftain wanted them all released.
(Geography +5)
I used the Dragonwish.
I released the Orc prisoners, regardless of guilt or innocence.
I used my Divination to quickly determine who was innocent. (Needs 70 Divination)I secretly killed all of the prisoners and then rose them as my undead slaves. (Needs 75 Necromancy)
The Orc Chieftain was a great help. (Needs 65 Orc Faction)I had the orc prisoners executed without trial.
I saved the courts many months of expense and frustration. All of the orcs who were innocent of their crimes were happy to be released within days. The Orc Chieftain was pleased with the speedy resolution.

I stopped working on foreign relations and turned my attention elsewhere.I could only hope that the other nations would leave Daria alone. We needed time to lick our wounds and gain strength. The kingdom was beginning to talk about the improvements across Daria.
