I'm voting NO, because we have WIZARDING to do. Y'all want to spend all our time raising a child instead? (In theory. Maybe we're about to retire? Maybe the author will handwave the whole child-care thing? Who knows.)

I guess that makes me the sole voice voting No. Plus now Maris and Stewart will have to get married and have kids in order to have something to talk about with us!

Those were wonderful days, hearing the laughter of a gnome baby, but eventually I had to return to work. We hired a nanny to look after little Harold.

I remember a very difficult situation between the Thieves Guild and the Fighters Guild. It started simply: a merchant needed some mercenaries to protect his stores from robbers, so he hired the Fighters Guild. The problem was, a rival merchant had hired the Thieves Guild to put him out of business. I don't know how the Guildmasters didn't see the problem early on, but by the time they realized what was happening, many fighters and thieves had been killed and neither guild wanted to give up their contract. The Mage Guild was soon hired by both guilds to fight the other. This troubled time became known as the Guildwars, and I found myself in the center of it.

1) I had been hired by the Thieves Guild. (Thieves Faction: 0)
2) I had been hired by the Fighters Guild. (Fighters Faction: -20)
3) I had been hired by the Mage Guild. (Mages Faction: 100)

3 sounds like something that would lead to profit, since we can fight everyone and get money from everyone for doing so. And it is natural for us to be hired by the mages, seeing as how we've been mostly interacting with them.

On the other hand, 1 or 2 could lead to better faction relations with one faction, at the expense of the other. Having good relations with the Thieves Guild might help in the future. And it could also lead to us using skills that we haven't maxed out.

Therefore, I choose 1.

They wanted me to settle the ridiculous contract and stop the fighters and thieves from working at cross purposes.
(Mage Guild +15)

1) I followed the merchant whose shops were being raided.
2) I followed the merchant who was responsible for raiding the shops.

2. The Fighting Guild may not like us, but the Thieves guild took our money. Twice.

My party and I were flabbergasted to discover that the two merchants were sitting in the same pub and enjoying a nice drink in front of a warm fire! They were chatting to each other like old friends.

I used my magic to listen to their conversation from outside. (Needs 55 Divination)

Our suspicions were confirmed. The merchants were intentionally pitting the guilds against each other. They knew the strife it was causing, and I soon found out their motive. One merchant sold weaponry, the other sold armor. They didn't care who was winning the Guildwar, because every side was buying from them, and they were becoming filthy rich.
(Divination +10)

1) I informed the guilds.
2) I demanded a cut of the action.
