1 Nothing escapes the eye of Sauron.
Sooner or later, there will be a Divination (100) check.

I intend to pass it.

It was almost too easy; we followed the tunnels like we had traveled them a thousand times before, going directly to where we were supposed to go.
(Divination +10, Geography +5)

The mineshaft had indeed broken into a much older tunnel. The dead bodies of dwarves could be seen scattered all about; the monster had killed a great number of them. We proceeded forward cautiously, but didn't have to go far before we found it. It stood an easy fifteen feet tall, had large horns in its head, and thick leathery skin all over its body. Its eyes seemed to have flames dancing in them as it approached us, ready for the kill.

I battled the creature with my strongest fireballs. (Needs 40 Conjuration)
I summoned a demon to fight for us. (Needs 30 Summoning)
I hid a vast canyon under an Illusion. (Needs 35 Illusion)

1) I had read about such a beast, and I knew its limitations. (Needs 35 History)
2) Stewart charged the beast. (Needs Fighter Power 6)
3) We had no choice but to run away, returning to the Dwarf Chief.

I would like to point out, though, that just because you read it, doesn't mean it's true :o

In a hole in the ground there lived a dwarf. Not a nasty, dirty, wet hole, filled with the ends of worms and an oozy smell, nor yet a dry, bare, sandy hole with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a dwarf fortress, and that means magma.

I recognized the glowing runes on the behemoth's forehead from an ancient text of the Endarii, creators of the warbeast army. Each warbeast bore the safeguard forged by its Endarii enchanters, the true name to which it must answer. I stepped forward, garments whipping about me by the creature's sulfurous breath, and raised my hands. "Enkarato Nektis!" I bellowed. The warbeast cringed and bellowed in return. The runes glowed, then erupted with light as its true name unknit its very being. A blinding radiance seared through the cavern, then extinguished just as quickly, leaving behind only a heap of blackened ash.
(History +10)

We returned through the tunnels, eventually finding our way back to the dwarven Great Hall. The Dwarf Chief himself met us. He was overwhelmed with joy at our success! He hugged each of us with his thick arms, lauging as he did so.

"Wonderful!" he exclaimed. "We'll be telling your tale for years to come!"

The dwarves held a great feast in our honor. They were very pleased to give us a substantial reward.

1) I accepted the reward.
I demanded that they give us more, it had been a very difficult battle. (Needs 40 Personality)
2) I declined the reward.

1 we are poor...

That and the historian union would be pretty pissed at us if we did this for free. We have been fighting for fair pay for far too long.

1!

Fame doesn't pay the bills! Let this be a lesson to everyone though. History is what enables the base soul to destroy massive war beasts.

Think of the long game, man!

More fame means more people will know who we are! (presumably!)

More people means more people to hire us.

Supply and demand; the more that we're in demand, the more we can charge for our services!

Exclamation marks!
