Magma filled wall
« on: December 28, 2014, 10:36:17 pm »

Hello! I was building 3 tiles wide wall.

Code: [Select]

| - Wall
. - Empty space
_ - floor
X - Fortification
As you know most of invaders know how to climb on walls, my question is, when i fill emty space in my wall using magma, it will burn everybody who will try climb? Did anybody tried it before? If it will not work, i will make floodgates who will be flooding invaders from wall inside, but i want know your opinion.

A better way to stop climbers is to just have a floor overhanging the top of the walls.  That magma might stop an attacker... but I doubt they'll jump in face first.  Neither stops you from flying enemies though.  Not just rocs, but goblin siegers can have flying mounts.

magma behind wall cannot scorch the climber, but can warm thm up a little bit.

Makes very nice bedrooms though.  I like to think that my baron prefers to snuggle on the warm magma-heated floor rather than using his heathen wooden bed.

OT no it wouldnt work. I think it's floodgate time.

You could make it into a trap for building destroyers and thieves, though. Locked door, magma, locked door, magma, locked door (doors obviously magma safe). Thieves would open the door and encounter the magma flowing out, building destroyers would destroy the door, encounter the magma, and see ANOTHER irresistible door to destroy. Not sure if thieves would retreat when they discover the magma, though.

Nah. It won't work, else dwarves would burn to death next to magma.

What you need is a magma moat and a wall.
