actually i would love such a Pokemon flavoured catching system xDD damaging the Monsters by injuring them and catch them with some sort of projectile weapon maybe a heal machine to restore their health use them as war Animals but thats just a dream =)

so i am assuming if i read this correctly, if i have a line of cage/weapon traps with either a web spitting spider or a web turret behind the cages, that i could catch any type of monster in the game? excluding web avoiding mobs?

Correct, but that is exactly the same as vanilla DF. No mods needed for that.

What IndigoFenix said is that there is a ranged weapon called Cage-o-matic, which literally shoots cages, and even traps trapavoid monsters. And that the chance that the cage-o-matic works becomes greater, the more injured the enemy is.

 :o okaaaaay how do i get such a cage o matic is that a Gnome only thing or can other races get that too? thats really damn awesome i never encountered this weapon in any of my runs which are most of the time quite extensive.
