I think my plan for the day is the bottle of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey I was given and trying to find someone to pay to put my PC together (not today) because if I learned one thing yesterday it's that neither I or my friend who convinced me that he did know exactly what he was doing, know exactly what we're doing.

Christmas Eve is the feeling of dread when a $1300 investment doesn't turn on and you begin to regret everything, related and unrelated.

Additional: Oh, and probably trying to finish the final mission of Warcraft III: Frozen Throne again. Christmasy?

Unrelated to the holidays, putting a PC together is actually really simple. Your motherboard should come with a manual that explains which cables need to be connected where, and most cases have a fairly intuitive mounting configuration that makes it pretty straightforward and easy to bundle wires together neatly. Most cables will only fit in one receptor shape as well, so it's usually impossible to connect something in the wrong spot.

Well I personally have absolutely no experience with it so I was relying on my friend who said he knew what he was doing and had done several before but when it came to test it the power supply just didn't turn on, we tried LED and Power switch etc. thingos and had no luck. Anyway eventually he had to leave. Then we realised he hadn't even connected the hard drive properly (one of it's things was connected but another was still in it's sealed packaging) which leads me to believe he was probably just completely winging it.
Unfortunately my motherboard only came with incredibly rudimentary instructions with no actual written words, for connecting the CPU, RAM and nothing else.

I'm working for nearly the next week straight anyway and my father's decided to pay for a professional to do it soI'm not too concerned with doing it myself at this point.

Just finished with the whole present unwrapping thing, ate a dramatic breakfast, washed dishes and am now doing a bit of internet. At some point I'll have a shower, and then later there's that Christmas dinner thing I'm supposed to go to. At least my gifts went over well. >.>
