Getting a bit bored with the lack of gobbos...

Does anyone know if DFHack still includes that "invasion-now" command?

The DFHack thread might be a better place to ask.

The "camp forever" bug that was fixed for 40.23 might lead to some more invasions. Here's hoping it fixes the siege scarcity.

They said the walls were impregnable. You didn't have to prove me wrong by giving birth on them.

It doesn't appear to be. I'm fairly certain that the strategy for forcing invasions in v0.34 no longer works, since invasions are much more complicated in v0.40 (for one thing, armies are tracked - it's harder to create an army and its history from scratch than to tell DF to make an invasion occur at a specific time in the future).

There was a typo in the siegers' campfire code. When the fires went out, so did the game.

It won't increase the frequency of invasions, but there is significant evidence to suggest that taking goblin prisoners compels their homeland to expend exceptional effort to recover them. If you're looking for a fight, try... accommodating your guests, instead of murderizing them.

If gobbos just don't show up at all, the same trick works on the humans (and elves too, but they're more difficult to provoke.) Just attack the caravan, then immediately order a retreat (by taking the squad off-duty, stuff it with cowards to ensure heroics don't spoil the plan) down a cage-trapped hallway. Be sure nobody gets away if you do that though, or they'll report the locations of the traps.

Even if you found a suitable opening, I doubt it would prove all too satisfying. And it might leave some nasty wounds, depending on the moral high ground's geology.
Location subject to periodic change.

Beware of this bug, though.
