[38a]The case of the vanishing windmill
« on: February 07, 2008, 02:04:00 pm »

Hi!

I am rather confused, here's the cause:
Just the other season, namely winter, my windmill "disappears". Not so much as *poof* and gone, more like deconstructed. Next year at the beginning of autumn, zap, the logs lie around, again.

Is this some carpenter prank? Material fatigue? Which would be odd, as temp. and weather are disabeled. Self-annihilation due to over-abuse? Any ideas are welcome!

Something freezes every winter and the windmill loses support from active (running) machinery?

I had an outside well that would deconstruct itself every winter.  I think this kind of thing is just caused by the freezing.

Ask and thou shall receive!
quote:
Don Quixote approaches another neighbor, Sancho Panza, and asks him to be his squire, promising him governorship of an island. The rather dull-witted Sancho agrees, and the pair sneak off in the early dawn. It is here that their series of famous adventures begin, starting with Don Quixote's attack on windmills that he believes to be ferocious giants.

Reference.
(it appears that Don Quichotte is the french name, Quixote being the correct english name.)

No, no freezing. Climate is warm, the ponds actually dried up.
In other words, it's because of the season, which makes wood constructions unsound and lets it rot, yes?

And as far as reading classics, well... I can't hold a book propperly, got aserious case of cramped fingers due to DF.  ;)

"Quixote being the correct english name."

Or the correct Castilian Spanish name, even.

I had a water wheel attached to a screw pump that i was using for some irrigation. When i turned the pump off, the waterwheel collapsed leaving logs. It would seem that Another might be right. It is odd though as my water wheel was constructed on  an inactive screw pump.

I think you're onto something. I'll try it asap. It might be even an odd bug.
