I've just tried to organize magma hauling using a nether-cap mine cart by using a stack of two (nether-cap) screw pumps to dump magma on top of (and presumably into) the mine cart. Sadly, the cart was destroyed by the magma, so "dumping into magma" apparently also means "getting magma dumped into".

If it ever derails and still has magma in it, you'll end up in the same situation as a bucket of magma, and some poor dwarf is going to be on fire from hauling it.

Nope. They don't haul the raw magma, and guiding _or_ hauling a magma-filled cart doesn't hurt a dwarf in fort mode (rules are different in arena and adventure mode).

If dwarf touch cart filled by magma, he will be usualy injured and in trouble.

No they won't.
Are we plaing in different games? I lost this way courple good dwarves... They are burning from hauling carts, but They can ride in magma filled cart just fine.

Possibly. My reference is unmodded .40.22. Mods can do all kinds of weird undocumented shit to the game.

My expedition leader hauled a magma-filled cart a hundred tiles. No wounds, no clothing damage, nothing. I suspect there's something else burning your dwarfs and you're misattributing it. If your dwarfs haul the minecarts with wheelbarrows, the barrows are in proper contact with the cart and may take damage and/or catch fire.

@below: Heat conduction actually happens - heat from the magma is transferred to the cart is transferred to the wheelbarrow.
But "hauled", while it puts an item into the dwarf's inventory, doesn't put them into proper contact, as far as the game  is concerned. Dwarfs apparently glower at items until the latter give in and get moving by themselves.

Personally I would like to see conduction and convection making this impossible !!fun!!.

You got it mixed up. You're meant to drive magma-safe carts through a magma channel, not dump magma on top. Dumping doesn't fill carts.

make a 3x3 room near magma
add 1 door opened by lever
make stockpile in room filled with empty minecarts
build 1 screw pump from magma to fill room full of minecarts, fill the room with magma while door is closed.
7/7 magma with submerged minecart = minecart filled with magma.
open door and let magma spill out and evaporate
you now assign those minecart filled magma in track stop to dump in a specific direction.

Well, I previously tried to drive my nether-cap mine cart through magma, and it just vanished without any trace whatsoever (yes, I've looked at all the magma tiles inside my drawbridge). The wiki stated that dumping nether-cap items into magma destroyed them, so that's why I tried to "fill" the cart instead.
It seems I either have to wait for the sluggish goblins to come over from the next tile to donate some iron, or go through the very slow and tedious process of leap-frogging two nether-cap screp pumps in an upwards stack to get the magma to my fort rather than the magma sea (or, closer by, the magma pool in the first, still unsecured, cavern). I'm currently producing my glass down by the sea, but it's a long twisting route.

Very simple magma filling station, build it above the magma sea:

  • Permit minecarts in stockpile, seal entrance.
  • Pump in magma. Drain. Open entrance.
  • While you wait for the stone to cool forbid minecarts in stockpile, and permit them in the target stockpile that has wheelbarrows enabled. Wait until carts are hauled up.
  • Empty carts by assigning them to the target dumping trackstops.
  • Repeat until satisfied.
Don't be surprised when you lose a few wheelbarrows in the process due to heat, but I have not seen dwarves die this way. Yet. :)

I love this idea, should be on wiki, much simpler and no exploits

It is on the wiki:
http://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Magma#Design_3:_Minimalist_magma_moving

That one even offers two optimisations: use a dump zone instead of a stockpile to position the minecarts to be filled, and use another pump to drain magma after filling the carts.

I still prefer systems that don't require dwarven labour once set up.

I am the opposite,  its annoying to have to make 6 windmills and a long pipe just to get 1 screw pump to work.

Its why people build hydroplants.  you use... 7 full tiles of water, a screw pump (just to get things moving) and 2 water wheels.  The pump stack pushes water over the wheels creating flow.  Once the wheels are going you have a perpetual motion device.  You can build as many as you want, anywhere you want for unlimited power. You just need that little bit of water.  I don't think its possible to embark with all three cavern layers dry, but if you do I guess you are already SoL for other reasons (patients dehydrating).  So when people build their 20-50z level high pump stacks, they aren't building exposed windmill farms.

Also, he just wants 6 units or so of magma.  A couple of minecarts is all he is going to need.  Personally, I prefer using magma pistons.  There is just something so damned dwarfy about using a cave in of hundreds of rock tiles to drive magma up to the surface.

Can you build a route which is just a dump stop or do they have to travel some distance  @  first?

You can build a route that's just a track stop. That's actually the principle behind quantum stockpiles. I'm also (ab)using it to haul mine carts with stuff (I'm in the very slow process of moving magma without metal, and while building the pump stacks, I need to move stuff from magma powered workshops up and sand down):
Top Workshop Dropoff Route
  Top Workshop Stop   V
Bottom Workshop Route
Bottom Workshop Dropoff Stop [Push east when empty -> move 1 tile to the loading stop]
Bottom Workshop Loading Stop V 50%
Sand Loading Route
  Sand Loading Stop  V 2%
Shuffle the mine cart designations (i.e. set the cart at the sand depot to the bottom, the bottom to the top dropoff, and the top dropoff to the sand depot), and hauling jobs are generated for dorfs to carry the carts to their new locations, with dumping of mine cart contents into quantum stockpiles at the top and bottom workshops. As soon as a dorf places a mine cart at the destination track stop the contents will be dumped (provided the track stop is set up to dump, of course).
You can probably make the design more efficient by combining the drop and load stops at the bottom.
