If you could pick the next squire's starting location, would it be...

A southernly port where cultures and norms of society mix and clash with each other?
A westernly city akin to Marienburg, home of current squire in play?
An easternly outpost at the edge of kingdom's borders, a beginning of thisverse's Silk Road?
A northernly fortress where young men prove themselves in combat with giants, wildlings and mystical beasts?
Centre of the kingdom, trapping the young squire in a thick web of decadent court's schemings and plots?

Agree to walk with him, and if he continues to show signs of holding something back, just straight up ask him about what's bothering him.

"Staranvil! For the first time since I was cleaned you told me the truth to my face. I only wish you stood your ground and let me embrace you brother."

Walk to the garrison to see if the magician is their. Ask for her council on Redfort and our mark. Maybe she can vouch for us that we were never possessed or did black magic.

Well, thanks to that certain someone who got us the mark.

"Wait! Please hear me out, for I had no idea just how unsettled you all were by this damned mark. It was not obtained by doing foul magics or by consorting with demons or anything of the like. Instead, it was caused by me being a fool, and eventually causing too much trouble so that I got branded. I can understand that it is difficult to want to even talk to me, considering this brand. I will not hold it against you if you decide to never talk to me again unless forced to, but I would appreciate if we were friends, or brothers-in-arms. And my combat skill, that's all I worked on when I first became a squire, even abandoning other pursuits for more knowledge about how to fight. I couldn't even read until recently. I was immature."

-1 to 3man's suggestion.
(Also the speech is my suggestion.)

Hmm...interesting this. The mark has bad connotations, and the origins are...a vulnerability.

-1 to 3man's (on the note that it...seems a bit too rash and the words don't flow right.)

Well, thanks to that certain someone who got us the mark.
Chill. Nothing is futile. :P

We're in a precarious situation, but honesty goes a long way. A good note in good public speaking (or social skills) is concise and not overly drawn sentences when speaking about important matters.
This seems to be the best way to approach this.

EDIT: first, retreat to our quarters.
Then, think about the moment our brand "heated up" that one night we were looking for an inn.  Recall the situation and see if we can make it happen again.  Let's try to get some answers, here.

Probably you should seek to be released from your squiredom and cite discontent you cause amongst the other squires as your reason.  You can find work elsewhere.
