If you could pick the next squire's starting location, would it be...

A southernly port where cultures and norms of society mix and clash with each other?
A westernly city akin to Marienburg, home of current squire in play?
An easternly outpost at the edge of kingdom's borders, a beginning of thisverse's Silk Road?
A northernly fortress where young men prove themselves in combat with giants, wildlings and mystical beasts?
Centre of the kingdom, trapping the young squire in a thick web of decadent court's schemings and plots?

Laugh and stare at the guy unblinkingly if we lose.

I'm fine with staring creepily or just plain scare him to do something stupid that we can counteract.

Imagine he gets annoyed and forgets his training so he blitzes us clumsily (unlikely but maybe), by being ready and mobile we can tag a hit on him and go on our own offensive once he's slown down. The key is to end this match as quickly as possible after tricking him into an opening. Remember this guy is 16 and if we can snatch defeat quickly then we'll be okay. But if it prolongs we'll run out of cards and he'll stomp us out with his skill.

Also make sure to exploit the STUFFING out of that first opening.

Unfortunately, I doubt he will be intimidated since he is older than us and probably pretty experienced with tournaments.  I won't -1 it though if that is what you guys want, and also since I can't really think of anything else anyway.

I think our mark may be more than cosmetic... there was one point where it "heated up" in response to something.  When we finish the tourney, we should determine if the mark has given us any special abilities.  Or if we are feeling adventurous we can try and trigger it now to give us an edge, but that may be dangerous.

I feel like our best option might be taking Staranvil's advice and trying to wear the guy down.  He's faster, quicker, and stronger than us.  Go on the defensive, use less energy, let him try to end it quickly.  Taunt him a bit, if it makes him try hitting us all the harder.

We probably aren't going to overpower him or outmaneuver him in the short term.  The only hope is to outsmart and outlast him.

Edit:  First opportunity, try to go for the head.  A blow there will daze him, slow him down a good deal more than a bruise on the arm or leg might.

Agreed, but perhaps if he had made a single reasonable suggestion thus far people would be more inclined to take him seriously.

Our scar could probably help us in our intimidation roll.

Our scar could probably help us in our intimidation roll.

Our lord would know we withheld information about this. Plus it wouldn't look good if the whole city saw a "cleansed one" fight for Blackfire's family which could pressure our lord to send us away from further service.

Our lord saw our scar and very explicitly told us he didn't care. Furthermore, I'm not saying we should point it out or anything, just that it might help us if we're trying to intimidate him. The other squires we fought have almost certainly seen it.

So, drop our sword long enough to push up our hair and say "Hey, you wanna know how I got this scar?  I got it for swinging my sword around like an idiot in front of a temple, that's how."

But no, I doubt it'll phase him that much, and us trying to do that might actually present him an opening to hit us.  Better to go with taunting over intimidation.  Because scar or no, we are a fairly un-intimidating fourteen-year-old boy.
