Given their lack of Heavies they may not know our ship. That said they are outnumbering us 2 to 1...
It's closer to 5 to 3, plus we have static defence turrets, home base advantage, radar, and air support.

Code: [Select]
Use Darts to cautiously strafe (Disruption): +2 Support.
AA Turrets fire when within optimal range; Aim for disruption/vehicles: +2 Support. Amendment (from Sheb) - 1 Dart per side, check for harder targets.
Ground Soldiers open fire when within optimal range: +1 Support.
Support battle w/ Telemachus: +0 Support. Ignored.

You wait.
The blips on the radar approach nearer and nearer as the yells from soldiers spotting enemies begins to fill the radio.
The chain of yells is broke by the calm voice of Donnely, who's manning the defense grid controls.
"They're now within optimal range of AA turrets. Firing turrets."

The Uark soldiers are surprised to see the massive AA turrets emerging from the ground, but are even more stunned when the AA turrets start to aim towards the crowd of soldiers.
A single Uark soldier's last word translated, was solely "Fuck."
The AA turrets fire into the soldiers, causing them to panic as they desperately try to escape the chaos.
Minutes later, once the now disorganized crowd of Uark soldiers begin to approach the Control center, U.E.F. forces immediately begin firing. The Uark soldiers dive for the sparse cover as shots fill the battlefield. Their response is weak, with only handfuls of soldiers on each side try to fire back, hitting 5 miners.

As if this wasn't enough for the Uarks, two Darts start firing into the crowd, throwing more soldiers back and killing others. Though right as they pull out, a Dart is flung out of the sky with a large explosion. A panicked recruit screams something.
"TANK! NORTH SIDE!"
Well then.

Lip, seemingly undisturbed by this news, reports the casualties so far. Around 40 out of 70 enemy soldiers were killed on the east side, and about 20 of the 40 soldiers were killed on the north side. YOu were probably pretty lucky in the effect of the AA on the enemy, but now you've got a tank to worry about.
4 recruits were injured on east side, and 1 was killed on north side.

You brief both pilots on their orders - to fire into enemy concentrations and disrupt them, then to fall back.
Minutes later, as you pace around the bridge, a console lights up.
"&*^^&%*-2 De*!#&#@* Ta&*nk" is displayed in plain text in the center.
That's worrisome.

Do a quick calculation on how many can the Telemachus take on. We might need to do a hot extraction.
How many what? I'll retconn it in or just do a mini-update if it's still reasonable.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

How did we not see the tank on radar? Are the AA guns capable of penetrating tank armour? What blew up the dart?

I think our AA should be able to affect that tank, even if not optimally. As a comparison, the germans used AA guns against tanks in WW2 to pretty good effect. Anyway, if we intend to use the Telemachus, it should be against the tank now. I'm assuming that pilot is still alive, due to him being able to text us about getting shot.

Keep in mind that it's a tank according to someone who was a miner a day or so ago.
As for the sensors, at the scale of tanks/infantry, it doesn't really distinguish between the two. Only that there's something there and it's not friendly/known.

We don't need the Telemachus to win this fight.

Hensen - focus fire on the "tank" with the AA guns. Withdraw troops from north side of the control centre just in case.
Captain - Order other dart to return to the Telemachus and give a report. What kind of tank is there and how did the other dart blow up?

Are there enemies in between the control centre and the communications array? What about between the control centre and the mines?

Keep the Telemachus hidden.

AA guns focus fire on that tank, and try to bring it down while our troops hold their positions and keep any of the Uark forces from focusing to much on the AA guns. Meanwhile have the dart return to the Telemachus, deliver a report, and then pick up a unit or two of mining charges and bring them to the control center coming in from the south west and flying low to hide itself. If those AA guns can't kill the tank then we're going to need the mining charges to improvise something.

Enemies are in cover still in the east/north directions from the control center, a moderate distance away (read: optimal range from infantry and AA turrets)
Hensen doesn't know about enemies in the communications array. Proobably not since enemies weren't seen entering, but you can't be sure because you don't have surveillance cameras or any other ways of monitonrg it. There are still enemies between the control center and the mines, since the mines are to the east.

Next battle is going to be better, honest!.

-1 on using the dart. We have no idea what blew up the other one and we can't afford to lose all our darts.

-1 to using the Dart as well; something took out the first one with zero trouble and we don't know what it was exactly.

+1 to using the AA guns on whatever this "tank" is, and also let's see if we can get one of our actual soldiers to get eyes in that direction.

HMR stands for Hazardous Materials Requisition, not Horrible Massive Ruination, though I can understand how one could get confused.

No. There is no update here. None. Zilch.

Code: [Select]
Use dart: Ignored due to negative support
AA guns on "tank": Yes
Have "tank" observed by marine: Yes
Get report from dart about tank and destruction of other dart: Yes
Withdraw troops from northern side: Yes

"Donnely! Focus all AA fire on that vehicle!"
"Right." she says as the AA guns pivot to face their new target, and unleash a volley. [Roll: 1 - Critical Failure]
"Uhh, it appears that one of the AA installations exploded due to a firing chamber mechanical error." says a worried Donnely. "I mean, it's not 'exploded' exploded, but it's out of action until some decent repairs are made."
Welp. You wait hopefully for the other AA gun to fire.

"Sir!" yells the marine tasked with spotting this so called tank over the radio. "It appears to be an Uark GC-750."
The GC-750 is more or less a lightly armored omnipurpose blaster with wheels. The gun can aim in just about any direction, has good tracking equipment and software, and deals heavy damage to a small area, but with a 15 second charge time. The armor is mediocre, but it's pretty resistant to small arms fire. Well placed shots from a rifle can damage it, though.
"Gun number two has fired."
"And--#&BOOM*#--Alright, looks like that AA gun did some serious damage to the armor. Withdrawing with the rest now"

"Officer, we've eliminated the hostiles with no further casualties,"
radios in the commanding soldier at the east side. "It was pretty close, but thanks to general luck, AA support, and the distraction caused by the dart, we've secured this area for now. Any further orders?"

Alright. You've got a vehicle with damaged armor headed towards your base on the north side along with the surviving 20 or so Uark soldiers. The troops that were recently guarding the North side have retreated back to the walls of the control center, but the enemies will be within combat range any second now.

You patiently stand in the open hangar as the fighter narrowly enters and lands.
"I didn't really see anything that could of knocked the fighter down," he reports. "All I saw was a bolt of energy hitting it, then the Dart crashing towards the ground."
He sighs, then continues. "I think the pilot is still alive, and the dart may be in salvageable condition. I just hope they don't get to it first."

Luckily, it seems that the automated emergency distress signal retrieval system embedded in the surviving Dart's communication system has gotten a bit of the diagnostics emergency transmission from the other Dart as it went down.
"Wing connections Alpha and Bravo lost. Reactor overloaded. Engine link cut." is all you can salvage from it.

I'm tempted to write up an extremely complex battle plan just to frustrate you. :P

We don't know what that technobabble means. We're going to need Donnely to explain that to us once we regain contact.

The other AA gun will continue firing on the tank while our infantry will target the enemy infantry. If the AA can't fire on the tank for some reason or misses, our riflemen will instead target the tank while our pistoleers will target the infantry. Firing en messe should make up for the fact that our riflemen aren't competent.

FAKEDIT: HENSEN, on the other hand, IS competent! While our bois shoot the tank as best they can with their rifles, we'll take our time to line up some decent shots. If the AA succeeds in firing on it, though, we'll remain where we are. No need to unnecessarily risk our life, after all.

TRUEDIT: Blare out on the loudspeakers that we will let them live if they surrender. We outnumber them and we outgun them. We should also check on the prisoners to make sure they're not doing sneaky stuff.
