[Blade Master Model 42]

Santoku came around fairly quickly. He sat up off the ground and looked around, confusion clear on his face and in his voice. "Where's everyone else? Where are we?"

Fiona strained herself to keep her tone and face as free from crushing despair as she could; she didn't want to break down in front of someone else.
:"I-- we-- ...we were losing, and if I was going to keep anyone alive, I had to take you and Gallus and leave..."

Santoku stood up, grabbing his sti- sword, and looked around. "So we left them? Do you have a plan to get us back there?"

[Powder Miner]

:"I... yeah, I l-left them, just... there were so many enemies, and the longbowmen, we... we just didn't stand a chance."

[Blade Master Model 42]

"Which way did we come from?" Santoku asked, looking around. Having come from the air, they hadn't left a trail at all.

[Powder Miner]

Fiona pointed.
:"That way, but it's... probably even more than 8 to 1 odds right now, we'd just... we'd just die."

[Blade Master Model 42]

"Doesn't matter." Santoku started walking in the direction Fiona had indicated. "I'll do what I have to do... to... do..." Santoku's eyes rolled up as his legs folded underneath him. The swordsman hit the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Fiona yelped a little as the man thudded the ground.
:"Buh! Are... are you OK?"

[Blade Master Model 42]

"Ugh. Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. Just haven't eaten for a few days, that's all." Santoku pushed himself up onto his hands in a sort of half pushup. "Maybe I should take a minute. Muster up some energ- Oh damn everything, I left my coat back there." The swordsman groaned and let his face fall into the dirt and grass. _{"Such a long damn way to go..."}

:"Here, look, look, just... I have some stuff in Allegro's saddlebags that we can both eat before we go back, OK...?"

Santoku rolled his head to the side so that he wouldn't be speaking into the dirt. "Sounds good."

[Powder Miner]

Sighing, Fiona quietly retrieved some bread and a waterskin from her saddlebags, splitting the supplies of her bread between the two, and handing the waterskin off to Santoku.

Santoku quickly drained the waterskin, and devoured his half of the bread with alarming speed as well.

Once finished with the food and drink, Santoku took a few moments to collect himself before giving Fiona his full attention. "So, you got any ideas on how we can get to your friends?"

:"Right, uh... I figured I was going to scout to see if they'd been taken anywhere, and then if I can get past bow cover, and... I was just gonna swoop down and pick them up."

[Blade Master Model 42]

"Yeah... If they still have them, they probably won't have them out in the open. And I can't imagine you being able to grab more than one and still getting out. No, we're gonna need a plan. Let's go survey the situation."
