Alison navigated the thickly clustered spiderwebs inside the old house. Over-large arachnids scuttled for the corners. There, on a old table, lay a strange whistle - it's lack of tarnish betraying it's magical nature.

"Damn pal, that the best you got? I've taken worse hits from a whip." The lance had clearly left a long, if not very deep, gash across Santoku's abdomen however. Either the man was a consummate bluff, or he was totally oblivious to the damage.

Sit tight.

[Glowcat]

"Useless junk." Pocketing the whistle to possibly pawn off later, Alison makes her way back to the doorway where she finds Santoku's battle with the raider soldier off to a bad start.

"A pitiful display of swordsmanship, my white knight. I hope you can do better than that."

Alison gladly tosses off her cumbersome hood and unslings her healing staff from her side, which she immediately puts to work mending Santoku's wounds. Her healing magic had the experience of biting cold rather than being a pleasant relief, snatching the target's attention away from any thoughts of a peaceful sleep while invigorating them through an adrenaline rush.

"But I suppose you can't grow without a little pain." She touches the staff to Santoku's flesh, mending the lance wound quickly.

Heal Santoku

"Eep!" Santoku glances back at Alison for an instant- and in that instant his eyes flick to the horns on her head- before turning back to his enemy. "Sheesh lady, I thought you'd poured ice water on me! Don't distract me when I'm savin' yer behind!"

[Glowcat]

"And let you succumb to your wounds? If that is your wish, please do so when my life isn't also at stake."

"Besides. By the end of this you will have likely learned several new ways to suffer. Know which can help drive you forward and which can hold you back."

[Swordstar]

Wincing slightly, Zahir glanced at Fiona.

"Perhaps it would be for the best if we were to swap targets."

Zahir to H-2, toss an axe at the bandit, activate trainee skill

[Sirus]

: "C'mon big guy, you gonna let a measly sword slow you down?"

H-3, FWOOSH the Merc!

[Xanmyral]

When Fiona moves out of the way, Laz will move to I2 and hard sell some fine iron to Bandit B.

"Hmmm... Seems those two are cornered in the house."

[Sirus]

: "We'll get to them. Maybe they'll know something about those captive villagers."

[Swordstar]

"I am not afraid of a sword, I am simply aware of the advantages and disadvantages of my weapon. This way, we can better face off against those we are better suited to fighting."

[Sirus]

The magesmith shrugged.

: "I don't have that problem. Still, good point. Good to know you're not all muscle."

[Swordstar]

The corner of Zahir's mouth twitched into a half smile and he shook his head.

"I suspect that if we encounter other magic users, you may have a similar struggle. But no, I am not just muscle. There is some amount of brain here, even if I sometimes ramble about things that seem odd."

[Sirus]

The man had a point. Jasmine knew a lot about the weak points in armor, and trained herself to fire precision firebolts at those spots. A mage's robes provided no obvious weaknesses, and according to her research her particular brand of magic was less than useful against the dark arts. Still, that wasn't an issue right now.

: "Sure, if. Right now it isn't anything to worry about. And don't worry about the rambling thing, I totally get it." If she had a gold coin for every time folks gave her strange glances, she would at least be able to afford a new tome.
