Kyrah felt a jolt of melancholy poke her like the spear poked the archer, then looked at the portly man who led the raiders.

No more killing...

"We don't have to kill. Just cut the fire off."

Zahir shook his head, almost sadly, before responding to the mounted warrior.

"No. It is not that simple. Sometimes a life must be taken. Many crimes have been committed today. To ignore the tragedies he has done would be to upset the balance. His crimes are many and he must pay for them."

[Tiruin]

Kyrah nodded.

"He can pay in prison. That's its purpose--to teach a lesson in bereftment of utter destruction--instead of...possibly, what prisons are thought about nowadays. A life taken is not a life learned, is what I believe. Sometimes, a life must be taken, but that's based on how we judge them: My parents asked me once, upon which line does a man cross that he himself is unable to judge his own direction."

She spun her spear around.

"I believe he still has a choice, but he can't choose straight now. Look at the anger on his pudge. It doesn't look good."

[Swordstar]

"It is not so easy to capture such a man. We are tired and barely standing. We cannot reasonably expect we will be able to keep him imprisoned until we get him to justice. We were given a task. Would you rather we take him and risk his companions who escaped coming and freeing him? Or perhaps him simply escaping while we are trying to recover? While it is a shame to take a life, the truth is, he will likely face the axe regardless if it is mine or another. Let his life balance out the destruction he has caused here. And allow new life to flourish here, safe in the knowledge that he will no longer be able to harm them."

:"C'mon, he's a bandit. You didn't seem to have a problem with killing all the other bandits, yeah?"

: "Not only a bandit, but the boss bandit. The others had a flimsy excuse in that they were just following orders. This dastard? He ordered houses destroyed and civilians killed." Jasmine's hands erupted into twin balls of fire as she turned her goggled gaze onto Sindros.
