Well, the first part of the problem is people have differing idealogies/opinions.  Make them all the same and they will have fewer reasons to hamstring each other, on purpose.
We will allow cats to decide what the 'good' ideologies are.  Race/gender/cultures/countries/nations/religions do not matter anymore.  The purpose of humans are now to worship and care for cats in unity.  That cannot happen when humans are killing each other or are too weak/malnourished to do so.

I get where you're joking but I think saying "People have differing opinions so we should make them all the same" is like saying "There would be no starving if we made it so people don't have to eat."
That'll totally work too.  There will have to be a lot of starving and desperate praying before we transcend.

There's a good chance that our various idealogies provide a competitive edge.  What we need is an enemy.  If something threatening appeared and promised to destroy us unless we built a space elevator with 10 years, I'm sure that we would unite as a planet to defeat the problem.

There's a benefit to there being 7 billion of us.  A significant proportion are nigh-inhumanly smart.

There needs to be one government for the whole world. And it needs to regulate businesses and the people who own/run businesses with a heavy hand balled into an iron fist at the end of a strong arm and a boot stomping on the corporate system forever.

And there needs to be a complete abolishment of intellectual property law. the RIAA, the MPAA, and John Wiley & Sons Publishing have sown the wind, and now they must reap the whirlwind.

No no you are all wrong... well Cthulhu is quite right about time ebbing and flowing.
There is no world to save, why the fuck do people think it will die. Its been around longer than you and it had no life at a point. Who cares about the stupid pandas that kill their own young our bad atmosphere the holes in the ozone, all are forcing evolution.
If old species cant handle the constant changes in the enviroment they will die off.
All that being said I think we should stop consuming, the dirty elves hippys are right. Grow your own food, love the people around you and murder anyone who comes onto your area. Like seriously murder them butcher them grind the bones for the gardens and howl at the moon as the blood drips from your face into the frozen earth... or is that barbarians.

I think you might need therapy.   :P

Idea 15:  Every day mandatory silly-hat day in Congress

Idea 16:  Cover the north-pole in tarps.  It will prevent the ice beneath it from melting, thus preventing the ocean levels from rising.  Also will provide much needed employment in the tarp industry.  Occasionally when snow has built up to a certain level on the tarps, you can cover it in more tarps in an iterative ice-cap repair scheme.

Idea 17:  All future contracts, disclaimers and EULA's can only be phrased as Haikus, or else they are invalid.  This will provide much needed employment of artists.

Idea 18:  Dogs everywhere doing jobs.  They are useful in schools, at the doctors, even at old-folks homes.

Idea 19:  Hardcore zero-tolerance environmental policy.  If a company spills oil or chemicals, all of that companies assets are  now owned by the government, and its CEO goes to jail.

1. Eliminate all tariffs, protectionist policies and barriers to free trade.

2. Force all governments to sell land not designated as nature preserves or other areas of explicit national interest to the populace instead of hoarding it (this is a huge problem in the 3rd world, the government owns almost all the land so nobody ever develops it)

3. Enjoy the near-elimination of poverty and famine.

4. Beverage of choice, socialist tears

Welcome to worldwide Somalia.

Low government spending doesn't have a good track record of creating prosperous countries. At all. All low-spending governments are shitholes. There's a very strong correlation between a strong state (measured as % GDP spent) and prosperity.

To clarify: nowhere in history ever got rich and powerful by using this magic low tax/low spending formula. It has no track record. All the countries that currently matter economically have historically and current government spending in the 40-50% gdp range. Ones with low spending are all nightmares, or are free ports/city states which rely on tax avoidance/shipping/trade with large countries nearby.

Here's your list. Other than a couple of micro-states which are outliers. High tax = decent place to live. Low tax = hellish shithole:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Government_spending

You can leave the horrors of high taxing (35%) USA behind and have nice low 12.5% tax burden like Venezuela instead. Hell, even Cuba, China and Vietnam have MUCH lower tax rates than the USA. So, you see this equating of backwards socialist hellhole with high taxes doesn't match reality. It's the advanced capitalist nations which have high-taxing/spending governments. Every other system is lower taxing, and has less government spending per gdp.

I doubt there will ever be a true world government. We as a species are too factional for that. The best we can get is something like the united nations... where everyone actually respects its authority.

Idea 20: Vaccination drones.  They will track you down, they will find your kids, and they will vaccinate them.

Idea 21:  Shoe Making Robots.  Robots can work 24/7, and can probably make a damn fine shoe.  All those child-labor shoemaking camps will be put out of business.

Replacing poor labor with robots is not a good idea. Think: right now making the shoes is the best economic option those children have. Merely taking the option away means they'll be forced to resort to whatever other option they have - which is by definition worse than making shoes, because otherwise they'd already be doing the other thing. Sure, put the shoe makers out of business is a great idea, but the poor kids and families who are relying on that income don't magically become rich or get good jobs after that. The alternatives are even lower-paying harder work, crime or starvation.

Idea 21-B:  Shoe Making Robots owned by a union of starving children.     :P

I'd rather the actual poverty situation be solved by my ideas 1 through 20.  I don't actually think automating labour should be feared, we should just do a better job of distributing wealth.

Idea 22:  Grant each of the states in the United States sovereignty, but give all the debt to Florida.

As for the world, the world is not self-aware, so it cannot really have any problems, as it has no sense of disliking something or wanting something; it has no agency, so to speak. The biosphere is similar, except sharing a general desire to exist in some form or another. I consider myself part of the biosphere, so I think that as long as humanity is alive it's ok.
Actually there is some scientists disagreeing with you there.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaia_hypothesis
Also some of you mentioned this before, but personally I believe the only way to change the world to the better is to change yourself to the better. If every human being was dedicated to self-improvement, then many of the problems we have today would not erven arise or would vanish slowly over time. To find a good moral ground to use as a guide one should look at religious texts as well as philosophical studies, while keeping an eye on the latest technology to combine philosophical concepts with the actual material world. (To give an example, renewable energies could be used to create autarch communities, it has been done before and should be a goal for every community)

The Gaia hypothesis does not say the earth is "self aware". No actual scientist believes so. Only hippy nutjobs who pick up the concept and go crazy with it.

What the author of the Gaia Hypothesis said was that the whole Earth's biosphere can be seen as a composite organism which has evolved self-regulating mechanisms. Nothing about "awareness".

That biosphere can't make decisions or conciously adapt. Each organism still works for it's own self-interest, and to propagate itself. Just like an individual isn't thinking about the "good of the species" when it procreates, there is no "species hivemind", and consequently there is no "biosphere hivemind" either.

It's a necessary step towards replacing all labor/jobs with robots and thus ushering in a paradigm shift in which people are no longer expected to work

Kinda underestimating how bad things could get though. It sounds like this strategy requires things to get so bad there is a revolution. And look at places in Africa/Latin America where huge numbers of children are living in rubbish tips, scavenging for a living, yet people still aren't rebeling.

"The poor are getting crushed by lack of jobs we must act now". Said nobody.
