So to clarify, the reduction of the individual to the point where the collective constantly overrides it is a win-condition sign of progress?
It would improve a lot of things, yes.

Anyway, how to improve the world:

1: Build a gigantic spaceship large enough to comfortably house billions of people
2: Find and select a distant, newly-discovered planet habitable to human life (invent one if necessary)
3: Convince the humans that the only way to ensure the continued survival of their species is to leave their increasingly polluted home planet and travel to this totally awesome one we just discovered over here in the next galaxy
4: Load entire human population into ship, prepare ship to fly to said planet (remember to turn off the lights before we leave)
5: At last moment alter control panel, launch ship into the sun.

Well... symptoms and causes, y'know? Most of mankind's problems is mankind. Good chunk of the world's problems is mankind, too. If you're curing a symptom, generally the best course of action is to remove the cause >_>

Really, until we can fix ourselves, fixing the problems will be an unreachable goal -- we can only lessen their impact.* Pretty much the only way to actually fix the world's problems is to take humanity out the equation, one way or another. Otherwise you're just treating symptoms that will return in due time. Gotta' get that transhumanism rolling, sooner or later.

*Though, of fair note, this is still an admirable goal and something to be pursued. As is said, perfection is almost always the enemy of the good, and the good is often the enemy of the better. Just because a problem cannot be fixed does not mean it should not be lessened.

1. Eliminate all tariffs, protectionist policies and barriers to free trade.

2. Force all governments to sell land not designated as nature preserves or other areas of explicit national interest to the populace instead of hoarding it (this is a huge problem in the 3rd world, the government owns almost all the land so nobody ever develops it)

3. Enjoy the near-elimination of poverty and famine.

4. Beverage of choice, socialist tears

1. Eliminate all subsidies, tax breaks, and support of corporations.

2. Force all individuals to sell land and means of production to the government instead of hoarding it (this is a huge problem in the 1st world, individuals make more money from holding onto property and waiting for its value to increase so nobody ever uses it)

3. Enjoy the near-elimination of poverty and famine

4. Required beverage, libertarian tears

1. Outlaw the concept of being poor
2. Find anyone who violates this law and turn them into cattle feed
3. Enjoy the near elimination of poverty and famine
4. Drink of choice: Remy Martin XO.

Hey, he said to fix the world's problems, not humanity's problems.
Humanity is the world's biggest problem. :P

No, no, I'm pretty sure the sun's eventual expansion is the world's biggest problem. That's actually fairly likely to flat wipe it out -- most we're likely to manage any time soon is annihilation of most of the biosphere, which is kinda' like worrying about a minor mold infestation insofar as the world's concerned.

Mind you, we're still the source of a lot of its problems, just not really existential ones.

I like the whole "sterilize the planet" idea, but I'm less keen on the killing humans bit. I know that's what we've been doing here, but hear me out: I'm sorta tired of all the people who say "Earth will survive, humans won't!" and I'd like to stick it to them. What remedy is there for the discerning Misogaian? Ideally, I'd like to kill the planet while humans are still on it (otherwise we could just crash the moon into it or something).

As for the world, the world is not self-aware, so it cannot really have any problems, as it has no sense of disliking something or wanting something; it has no agency, so to speak. The biosphere is similar, except sharing a general desire to exist in some form or another. I consider myself part of the biosphere, so I think that as long as humanity is alive it's ok.
