Ice Station Yankee IC: Redtext the Game
« on: December 18, 2014, 02:55:54 am »

ABSOLUTELY NO OOC IN THIS THREAD
BY PLAYERS OR OBSERVERS
ON PAIN OF DEATH

OOC Thread
Of course I can't actually kill you through the internet, but I can bloody well try!

Reaffirming The Gentleman's Agreement
To emphasize communication and roleplaying each player will only be able to see and hear from his own perspective.
All players post their actions in spoilers titled '[Player Name]', this helps me find actions quickly and prevents people from accidentally clicking actions that aren't theirs. You are ONLY to read the spoilers marked specifically for you and you alone. If you don't see your name, notify me and I'll sort it out.
Spectators can open all the spoilers they like.

Example Action:
Spoiler: GUNINANRUNIN (click to show/hide)

If I suspect you have been cheating or that a spectator has passed you information, intentionally or no, you will be kicked from the game and that will be that.
If you accidentally click the wrong spoiler and read something (because it does happen from time to time), regardless of how mundane the information was, do not post, PM me and I will decide how to proceed. Chances are the game will be able to continue without any problems.
If a spoiler posted by either me or another player isn't named, don't open it, bring it to everyone's attention in OOC just to be safe.

How to Play
Each turn marks the passage of one hour. Your goal is to perform your job to the best of your ability, and ultimately complete the device that will one day win the war against the Reds. Talking is a free action, conversation can be understood by anyone in the same room, and can be (over)heard by anyone in adjacent rooms or hallways, depending on the state of doors and other intervening obstacles like walls. You can continue to perform multiple actions in a single turn, until I decide that you've spent an hour's worth of time. If an action will take more than one hour, I will tell you so and provide my best estimate.

You must eat a decent meal at least once a day. Snacks can help keep you on your feet but you need something wholesome once in a while.
8 hours of sleep a night is the ideal amount. Coffee is useful for when you're on the verge of a breakthrough.
You may pass turns if you don't have anything to do (which shouldn't happen).
When you enter/exit a room, I will always assume you close the door behind you. If you want to (un)lock a door, you need the key.

Conversations
If you're in the same room as a person or person(s), you title your spoiler with-
[your name] > [intended recipient's name, other recipient's name, so on]
-in order to speak with them. Take the time to get it right, one mishap can cause a lot of problems.

[December 17th, 1989, 0539]
An early winter storm is slowly dying with the rising sun. From the interior of the base, just beneath the din of whipping snow and whirling wind can be heard, by anyone awake, the steady chopping of helicopter blades. As quickly as it came, the storm vanishes, and above the horizon the red on white shape of the CH-53 can just be made out against the sheer blue sky.

I gaze into its milky depths, searching the wheat and sugar for the meanings I can never find.
It's like tea leaf divination, but with cartoon leprechauns.
There are only two sure things in life: death and taxes and lists and poor arithmetic and overlong jokes and poor memory and probably a few more things.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

Unofficial slogan of Bay 12 Games.

You were planning to have a 15 year old magical girl kill Witches by drinking them under the table!? It's original, at least.
