Actually struggle attacks count as normal type damage in this game.

It just doesn't count as a move.

It seems to actually be pretty good in this, unlike the games... Maybe I just didn't know how to Pokemon, but it always seemed so useless to me.

By the way, how does Endure work with injuries? Say, if you're Pokemon is on 3 health and gets hit for 10000 damage (but has endure) would it take one injury, no injuries, or just sorta die?

They are Normal type too, after all. There are just certain things that let you modify the type.

According to the rules... Endure would mean you gain... 0 injuries.

*Checks more*

Ok here is the official ruling

You gain 1 injury from endure. There is actually an ability that allows you to prevent this.

*checks more*

Ok I think I have it now.

You are right it would die from massive injuries.

But Mind you, losing 100% of its HP is just 2 injuries... To gain 8 more injuries it would have to lose 400% of its life... and frankly if the enemy is dishing that out in single attacks... Your pokemon is dead. As losing -200% is kind of a lot.

If you took 10,000 damage in a single attack... Well just be impressed your pokemon tanked a world shattering nuke.

*Checks MORE*

OK... OK... I have... no idea.

I only know you at LEAST gain 1 injury from massive damage or having your HP lowered. Lets just keep it at 1-2 injuries for now... though a GM ruling might help.

---

Also yeah there are several ways my opponent could beat me if we are simply equal leveled.

For the sake of clarity, here's the standard way that Pokemon get injuries.

Quote
Injuries
If an attack deals enough damage, it might cause an Injury! Generally, this happens when an attack deals Massive Damage, or damage equal to or greater than 50% of a target’s maximum Hit Points, or when a target is reduced to a certain Hit Point Marker: 50% of their maximum Hit Points, 0%, -50%, -100%, and every -50% thereafter.

How Endure works is something like this:

Let's say we have a Pokémon that has 70/70 HP. It's hit for about 40 Points of damage, and gains 2 injuries, one for hitting that HP threshold, the other for Massive Damage. Let's say another round goes by, and he's hit by another 40 damage. To prevent himself from fainting, that Pokémon will use Endure. It still takes another injury for having lost over 50% of its health in one attack, but it keeps going on at 1HP and a grand total of 3 Injuries instead of 4 injuries and fainted.

If you have a Pokemon at full health again at 70/70 and it takes a hit that deals over 1000 damage and it endures, it would only gain 2 injuries. One point for Massive Damage and one for passing that 50% threshold. But, no injuries besides that!

So if you wanted to kill a Pokemon with Endure, the trick would be to proc Endure with a crap attack and THEN pile on for massive damage?

If you wanted to murder it... Sure! 1 HP doesn't leave a lot of buffer if that Pokémon gets hit by a disastrously strong attack.

But you could also just be that guy and attack it relentlessly after it's fainted. Granted, people may frown upon that unless you have a valid reason.

That's possibly a likely situation if the foe pokemon injured / killed you or a dear friend, and your pokemon goes completely psycho and wants BLOOD.

For clarity, the slowest trainer orders first and then the second trainer gives orders in retaliation. Then the fastest pokemon goes first after the trainers give order. In league battles, no map will be required since trainers take a backseat.

Welcome to early battles folks where "Quick! Use the same move... except AGAIN!" is standard operating procedure.

Its not a complaint. I am genuinely enjoying myself.

When we are throwing around 6 or even 7 moves in single matches... then things will get really complex.

In my case it will be *DODGE!* You have opponents you can hit, I don't. >_>

(Unless that isn't a Ghastly I'll be facing after all.)

Its a gastly. And doesn't Riolu get scrappy at later levels? And I'm sure a few hits from riolu on a gastly (which I remind you has almost no HP or defense whatsoever) will defeat him.

Well, the only damaging move the Riolu knows is Quick Attack, which... Isn't very damaging. xD

As far as I can tell, neither Riolu nor Lucario learn scrappy.

We'll see.
