People who put milk in their tea should be dragged out into the street and shot.
Just saying.

This thread is obviously a front for the Tea Party. Terrible, terrible people.

As for tea, it must be with a small bit of milk and no sugar. Sugar spoils it utterly. Sweet tea? *Shudders*

fruity tea is an abomination. You are going to hell, and it's all coffee down there.
I don't drink tea or coffee regularly anyways. Drowning in coffee would still be awful though. I hate that coffee makes things sticky (yuck).

There's a significant difference between sweet tea and tea that is sweet.

Anyway, you usually use honey or something instead of actual sugar. Maybe some sort of fruit. Tea that is sweet is often quite nice, but sugar alone is often too... sugar.

I have succeeded in preparing the straight-up bonkers beverage known variably as Mongolian tea, Kalmyk tea, Suutei tsai, nomads' tea (the latter name might be a Russian-only thing) and it turned out...

I wonder if Canadians drink their tea with syrup.

I had some pretty decent pomegranate tea in Turkey, actually.

Normally I like mine with milk and plenty of sugar. I'm not fond of bitterness.Except in my personality.

sugar in tea (unless it is sweet tea) is also a cardinal sin.

Honey, my friends, or preferably, agave nectar.

Syrup's actually not all that bad in tea, iirc. Fairly sure I've tried that. Have put syrup on most things that are normally edible by this point, so it's fairly likely. It's usually an improvement at some level of saturation. Syrup's amazing.

Gotta' remember, it's not just the canadians that do syrup -- we got that stuff all over the place in the south, too. Just marginally less likely to be maple.

Would have to down-vote the nectar, though. I've tried it a few times so far (though not in tea) and it's just kinda' wonky. Wouldn't mind giving honeysuckle nectar a shot, though, one of these days.

Speaking of which...

Earl Grey's alright, but I think it's overrated. I'll sometimes mix in things like chamomile, grated ginger, orange/lemon zest/juice, and usually honey.

Herbal teas can be fine sometimes, but they just taste too weak alone. I'll sometimes mix them in with another tea base, if I'm feeling lazy.

My go-to tea is typically Twining's Everyday or some simple blended black tea. Can't beat the flavor and price imho. I have to order it online, because only their flavored 'specialty' teas are sold in the US. Normally served black, but if I accidentally oversteep it and it gets bitter (which is often), I'll dampen it with milk or honey.

Herbs, fruits, et cetera I sometimes get, but mostly, it's straight tea for me.

Also, as a dessert/treat, I'll make milk tea with strong strong black tea, an equal part milk, plus some honey.

Sencha is probably my favourite green tea. I could drink it all day.

For black tea, it's gotta be chai.

After looking it up on Wikipedia...

...yes. Yes I would like your recipe, if you would be so kind.

As for tea preferences, I tend to go for Lapsang souchong. Nice and smoky, and cleanses the palate between my frequent cups of coffee.
