Scene 1 Act 1: nondescript plains lashed by merciless winds; Samurai and Knight facing each other.

Knights are well-equiped, skilled and wear heavy armor. Despite their reduced mobility, those guys were tanks back then. Most Samurai defenders say that "Samurais were more skilled than knights", but Knights were just as skilled as Samurai were. Also:

Would the fight be any different if the samurai teamed up with a ninja and the knight teamed up with a non pacifist Benedictine monk who spontaneously knows martial arts?

Well, the knight could team up with a "Warrior monk", but that would mean teaming up with a member of the Knights Templar or something, which basically means two knights instead of one (except the one would be fanatically religious and possibly more experienced with exotic enemies).

Anyhow, one way the Samurai could have an edge would be if he brought an early 17th century matchlock to the fight, since there is a chance an aquebus could actually pierce platemail.
