Really?  It looked pretty okay, I am used to king james version and found they pretty similar(for the same book :P) I may check multiple versions for additional clarity...

Ps.: But I'm totally keeping my quotes with the jw bible, at least I can ctrl c + ctrl v it.

Folks interested in the subject related to christianity, at least, can probably go look through the locked christian beliefs thread. Its relation to war and violence came up a few times, iirc, and got tread over pretty well.

Probably one of the more interesting bits to me is that the biblical text is pretty mum regarding war itself. That and it's pretty possible the whole "turn the other cheek" thing had an entirely different message than what it's normally interpreted to mean these days.

There are sites that let you quickly find verses and compare across versions. I can't remember the link, though, since I didn't have much use for it.

Ya I don't think turn the other cheek would apply to war...

They're small, as far as I know, but they're things like "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was a God..." (John 1:1), which represents the Trinity as multiple discrete entities, so they hold Jesus as being a god in his own right.

Didn't the original texts, as mentioned before, support that type of thing though? That whole business of Ra and the Pharaoh.

Nice, I'll search around for a bit, from now on I can put at least two different bibles if you wish so.
But still, is there another religion besides Roman Christianity that approves, directly or not, the war?

Edit :

Nah, that difference isn't about that, because JW don't believe in Jesus being a god, or the trinity. My aunt is a jw, and she is who made me read the bible too... But yeah, they seem to find the whole trinity thing pretty ridiculous.

That's a separate issue. The Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Jesus is a separate and lesser entity to God.

They also believe that only 144000 people will be saved, that holidays should never be observed, and that Christ returned in 1914. Also that Jesus is Michael the Archangel.

A single Bible is fine, as long as it's not the JW Bible. It's the only significantly different one I can think of off the top of my head.

It's not really all that separate. If God is only one God among quite a few, then Jesus could be one of the other Gods.

Yes, and you believe Jesus and God are one and the same, that Jesus in the New Testament is precisely the same entity only in human flesh as the being in the Old Testament.

When it comes to belief, everyone is equally right.

And the Holy Spirit is also an entity of god. One which resides in every human being

I'm not saying I'm right (although obviously I am :P), I'm saying the Jehovah's Witnesses believe fundamentally different (although similar) things to other Christians and that their Bible is also similar but fundamentally different, and therefore their Bible is not necessarily always a reliable source for most Christian topics.

I think I'm right on that.

Ah, right.

Well, I maintain that Jesus as a separate God does have some scriptural basis. After all, by saying Son of God, he's not actually saying he IS God.

...

That's an interesting question. Does he ever say he's actually God?

I still think my 'God is literally human thought' interpretation is  the most rad one. :v
