What do you think of the new format?

I like it better than the last one
It's good, but I don't see the need with the discussion thread

I approve of this format - the previous thread was a bit like dodgeball with only one or two people on your team, and occasionally someone threw a shot-put instead of a soft ball.
At least it was better than the nuclear warhead dodgeball of the Islam thread.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

You've got to not let that kind of thing get to you, it's the nature of this kind of thing. At this festive time of year especially, I like to remind people that even the First Nicene Council eventually degenerated into physical violence.

I'll answer questions, but I'm a humanist/atheist, so I don't know how many I'll have to field.
Since timeclone is onboard I guess I'll be available for questions as well. Before my militant atheist days I was a Lutheran, so that might be valuable.

... just to give a heads up, the christian one is probably going to be reopened, in time. A more general one is fine, though, of course.

Not actually, unfortunately.

How do you know it's not gonna be reopened?

Toady PM'd Cryxis who PM'd me because I was wondering when he was planning to re-open it.

Remuthra: what does that mean?  I've never heard of that before.

It means "posting to watch".
I meant his religious affiliation, silly.

I got warned for doing this. :?.
I've read your OP, and there are some distinct differences you got warned about.

that was part of it, but another part of it was posting a thread after the initial thread was locked.

In other news, I have decided to join the Satanic Temple, which is technically a religion, but just exists to get rights for those of us who prefer science over mysticism and what have you.

Personally I prefer the Church of the SubGenius for that sort of thing.

Okay people, enough of the chitchat.  I specifically framed this thread as a question-and-answer thread in order to AVOID some of the problems associated with previous religion threads.  While I understand that the first couple pages of any thread are often rocky with regards to following the intent of the first post, let's try to bring this thread back on track.  No fault of any of you, but let's just try and move ourselves back into the format that was laid out.

Okay, this is killing me. I have a question. I promise to try to be civil and not rude. But I want to know the answers to this.

I'm in a PM discussion about this, also, actually.

http://members.shaw.ca/tfrisen/Bbl/Sexism/Sexism.html

So the bible teaches that men are superior to women, and has some really unusual rules like women being unclean for specific numbers of days after giving birth (much longer if it is a female child than a male child.)

Okay, so, if you, as a Christian follow rules like homosexuality is a sin, etc, do you also subscribe to the quotes therein, and how does that play out for you in day to day life, relationships, etc?
