"Without Kamina, Simon would never have left Giha. And the Dai Gurren Gang would never have existed. He was also one of the first known humans, after the Great Spiral War, to pilot a Gunman. We owe a lot to him... me especially."

"To be truly honest, I was only made aware of the Dai-Gurren Brigade three years prior."

And why do you especially owe a lot to him?

Reina gazes at the statue. "You know, now that I think about it, if he hadn't died, I might've been born a completely different person. Makes you wonder..."

"This all sounds well and good but.... who is this Kamina and why are we looking at this statue?" Eun looks completely confused.

Eun sighs and looks back at the statue.

"He's a hero from the Beastmen war. He had the ingenious idea that if Beastmen could pilot gunmen, then so could humans. Apart from Simon piloting Lagann, he was pretty much the first human to put gunmen into widespread use. Eventually he died in an attack on Lordgenome's generals."

[Sanure]

"General? What was the name?"

Based off of the names of DNA. I forget which base that one was modelled after, though.

"Thilymph. I recall it was the thymine base."

Heh. I never understood why the dumb bastard named them like that. They didn't even have DNA, not in the conventional sense.
