goblin extinction?
« on: December 11, 2014, 03:33:43 pm »

past 2 worlds i generated, i quit it cause it was too peaceful, goblin are dying off so fast, is there either a cheat or something to repopulate or is this a current balance issue, or "bad luck"?

Remove the multiple litters rare from the goblins, in standard.

I'm pretty sure that means they just always have one child which would be less than one and sometimes more.

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.
Unless you're past reproductive age. Then you're pretty much an extension of your kids' genitalia

it's in raw/objects/creature_standard.txt under [CREATURE:GOBLIN] somewhere, remove [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE].
Also it might help to reduce the criminal rate of goblin civs, maybe that makes them murder each other less.

According to the wiki's page on Creature tokens, vjmdhzgr is mostly correct, though I think he(?) could have phrased things better.

The game respects [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] and [LITTERSIZE:?:?] tokens.  The wiki page, in the section on [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE], explicitly states that lack of either token guarantees a single birth every time.

To achieve a higher birth rate, you would need to replace the multiple litter token with [LITTERSIZE:1:2] or something similar.  Exact numbers are optional; they specify a minimum and maximum, respectively.  I seem to remember reading that the game also respects a single litter size number (which would guarantee a litter of that exact size), but I can't find a source for that now.
