Turn 1, Phase 1
It Begins
The next few days at all the bases were home to lots of busywork getting everything ready for when the aliens came back, and they were ready not a moment too soon. There are many reported UFO sightings across the world.
However, something special just happened. UFO sightings are being reported in from around the world, and there are numerous confirmed UFOs visible via sight and radar at all the major bases.
Indonesia is being attacked by aliens!
UFO in Saudi Arabia detected and is being intercepted by HHS!
Alien UFO sighted in Switzerland!
Germany is being attacked by aliens!
North Korea attack is being attacked by aliens!
Aliens sighted in Egypt!
South Africa is being attacked by aliens!

Political Status: Tense
Alien Status: Sudden storm of attacks.
Terror Status: No terror at last check. Next check will be Turn 2.
Trade & Resource Status: All trade routes are unthreatened
Modern EquipmentIt's what the other people have said so far. It's the equipment used by an average squad of a first world nation. (Read: US)
A squad with modern equipment will by default have some explosives, like grenades, but not RPGs. No specialists, but modern armor, weapons, etc.
Nation RelationsWhile you don't get to see my extra-awesome spreadsheet for it, there will be updates for the extreme majority of relation changes. (Like "Nation X declares war on Y! Nation Z has made an alliance with Nation F!")
Production/Research Timing
Production takes 1 turn unless stated otherwise. (Like, it'll be ready in the turn containing the order to make something)
Research can easily take multiple turns, but development is immediate.
PhasesTurns can be divided into phases depending on things happening. Phases can be ignored and you can make your plan like usual, but things can take phases to complete, like sending out a ship in Turn 0, and getting it in turn 1.1. The first phase after a full turn has the usual report and stuff, like this post. All the other phases usually only have the stuff that changed since the previous phase.
In short: Ignore phases unless you don't want to.
Kiryu-KaiTreasury: 25, 25/turnQuickly after beginning operation, the labs were divided up into small sections, with teams of 3 and 2 scientists working on their own projects, along with a handful of solo projects.
Eventually the reports start pouring in.
Research ReportsWhitehawk Mounted MachinegunThis was a fairly easy task, though it seems the scientists sadly didn't innovate much.
The main problem with fitting a gun onto the Whitehawk is ammunition, controlling, and weight. We were able to solve ammunition and weight by deciding to use a moderate sized minigun for the weapon and fitting it below the area where the nose of the craft is. To allow control and aiming, we were able to redesign some machinery, then wire it to the whitehawk's control suite by tapping into an avionics package's wiring and using that to hook up the gun's control software. The end result is a reliable autoloading minigun controlled by the pilot. As a bonus, the minigun is relatively cheap, so it doesn't add on any credits.New aircraft available for purchase - Whitehawk BC-37:G [18c/u]All Whitehawks have been upgraded to the 37:G modelNight Vision GogglesExtremely easy task. Scientists were able to go beyond expectations.
We were able to call some contacts and do some digging to find a NVG project mothballed for political reasons. It was a huge goldmine, and after some minor modifications, we were able to procure the blueprints for new NVGs of extreme quality.New equipment available for purchase - NVG [1c/4units]Body ArmorNone of the scientists were able to innovate in this field. They can be left alone and continue doing this, reassigned, or given a more specific project goal.
Light Jeep w/ Mounted TurretThis was extremely easy for the scientists, who managed to meet expectations.
A friend of a friend was able to give us some contact information for a rather stereotypical light jeep. It should be able to do everything a jeep can at a relatively cheap price.New vehicle available for purchase - Light Scout Jeep [6c/u]Sniper RiflesThis was extremely easy for the scientists. The project was able to meet its goal.
Our first idea somehow paid off - we questioned the manufacturer of the X-78.C rifle as to the presence of any sister sniper rifles, and they introduced us to the S-41.A, a prototype sniper rifle. Some demonstrations at their shooting range demonstrated a solid sniper rifle which should meet expectations. The prototype nature makes it relatively expensive for a gun, though.New equipment available for purchase - S-41.A [2c/u]FlamethrowersThis was easy for the scientists, as they managed to go a decent amount above what was anticipated.
Flamethrowers are pretty simple. You shoot a gas at a poor person's face, and light the gas on fire. With this in mind, we were able wrangle together a nice flamethrower, but since we had a ton of extra time and budget, we decided to go further and expand on the design. We now have a flamethrower which can also shoot flaming balls of gas at long range targets with little collateral damage, provided the soldier doesn't miss.New equipment available for production - Hybrid Flamethrower [3c/u]Theoretical Laser WeaponryThere was no innovation on this project. You can reassign, repeat, wait, specify or take smaller steps.

ARCTreasury: 20 Credits, 25/turnThe program actually briefly went into debt. They were strongly advised not to do so again, even if it was only five credits over the limit. But still.
Strongly advised.
Not much has happened in the compound, really. The patrols of Albatross squad are now a familiar sight, and Alpha+Beta squads are excited to see the new X-78 rifles. There's also apparently rumors of a "superhero spandex suit".
Research Reports
Mobile and Defensive Body Armor
The project was pretty complex, but the staff was able to hit expectations nicely.
There wasn't really any research required for a new suit. Scientists simply had to toy with existing materials to allow the armor to stay light enough for maximum mobility on the field. They were able to find a common brittle material on the market, and put it through a series of 'tests' to change the structure, making the material softer, yet still as hard.
In order to keep the mobility of each joints, the scientists decided to make a chainmail-type suit out of this material, with microchains joined together to get a flexible yet durable combat suit. The nature of the suit allows it to cover much more of the body, and therefore offer more protection than your typical bulletproof armor.
In addition, we were able to easily locate military grade grappling hooks on the market and turn them into an attachment for the suit.

This is a special research assignment.
We've spent this entire time calibrating the various communication equipment we control in different ways in an attempt to find if the Aliens communicate on any possible medium we can monitor. However, we got lucky and for about ten seconds with a very specific calibration, we got some interferance that doesn't seem to be human based. The audio log is saved to the research hard drives, but it's definitely not obvious at a first look. More research may be required to find out what the audio log is.

Medium IFV
This is of moderate complexity, but since it's basically entire just development, the Scientists were able to pull through with a good result.
This wasn't too difficult. We pulled some blueprints from the military database and added some modifications for it. The new design has two miniguns on the front with numerous protected cameras, giving a 360 view in the cockpit. On the top, it has a relatively large machine gun controlled by someone inside. The back has an armored hatch controlled via electronic systems. It houses about 12 people, including the pilot, which can be a soldier.

Research Reports
Pre-Invasion Mayhem
This is a special assignment.
We've done some work in the field regarding this. A few people were discretely questioned, and the behavior of the nations analyzed. Rumblings of the coming political situation first occured about two months before the invasion. The U.S. Secretary of State seems to be the origin of the collapse of the local alliances, but we've been unable to question him.
Off the record, it may be a good idea to detain him forcefully.
Other Defense Programs
This is a special assignment.
A couple of Alien Defense Projects were announced publicly, but most were private. Some strategically placed pre-invasion agents were accessed and we found the identities of their programs. A lead in Netherlands did not result in any programs being discovered, but we found that many political figures may be able to divert funding towards our program. We perhaps should pursue this further.
UFO MonitoringA mostly development-based assignment, the scientists have been able to exceed expectations.
We were able to modify our satellite dishes to detect distortions in the atmosphere caused by the speed of the alien craft, and have software cross-reference it with our databases and conventional radar. We should now be able to detect alien craft moving around.
Now able to detect UFOs over Main BaseSquad Support Machine Gun
A development based assignment where the scientists exceeded expectations.
The X-78 was modified to be fed via belt, have slightly larger projectiles, and a much better rate of fire. This was at the cost of weight and the people required to man it. It has some legs able to be deployed and is now operated by two people.New equipment available for production: MX-78 Belt-Fed Machine Gun [4c/u]UFO detected above North America!
A H-36 is immediately sent to the UFO.
The visual feed from the interceptor shows a small stereotypical saucer type craft.
The interceptor immediately fires a Harasser missile, which misses the first time around. The harasser's navigational system reroutes the missile around and goes in for a second time.
Suddenly, the Harrasser detonates right at the hull of the alien ship. The H-36's pilot immediately pulls back to avoid damage, and after the explosion subsides...
The UFO is still alive. It appears to have a single engine disabled, but is still going straight.
The pilot starts to get warnings and alerts across the cockpit - The alien craft seems to of hit the H-36 with a beam, which pierced the engine casing. Luckily, the pilot is able to regain control of the craft and fires his second harasser.
The harasser misses. Again. It attempts to reroute to get to the alien craft, but misses its shot by a small amount due to the UFO dodging. It comes around for yet another attempt, and this time finally hits the craft.
This explosion seems to do it. The UFO's engine that looked disabled before has a huge explosion, and the flaming UFO goes down to the land below. The closest airport is evacuated by the government to clear an emergency landing space for the damaged interceptor.
Battle Summary: UFO down, Interceptor requires repairs. 2 harassers expended.
The interceptor manages to get a shot of the wreckage before landing. There's no signs of life and no actual crashed craft. The craft exploded into large pieces that litter the crash site.

Long-Range Communication
This was a research and development, but the scientists got pretty lucky and exceeded their goals and time guess.
The scientists were able to come up with a ingenious solution - Through extremely careful calculation of pathways through space, the communication arrays previously used for communicating with the now-gone satellites can have the ability to basically transmit data via space without satellites. Via maps of wreckage and debris in space around the planet and their orbits, signals from specialized dishes can bounce off the debris if planned right, and keep on doing so until they hit their destination. It's much more secure than using internet cables, and a bit more reliable. It can also be sent to any facility with a large enough dedicated satellite dish.
The technology is ready to use right now.New communication method available - Orbital Debris Communication System, or ODCS.The most secure method of communication, able to be received by any player/person with a large satellite dish, but can only be sent by owners of this tech. Whitehawk BC-37

Research ReportsLight IFV
Sadly, this isn't really possible, because a small vehicle is something like a bike. You can translate the progress from this into light vehicles or an IFV, though.
Combat!
As the Whitehawk touches down near the rebel base, yells of surprise start coming out, and what appear to be rather relatively well equipped soldiers file out of their camps in response.
Bolts of gunfire hit the Whitehawk, richocheting off harmlessly as the aircraft's rear door slowly opens. Five soldiers inside aim their guns outside of the craft through the openings in the door, shooting into the growing crowd of waiting soldiers, with numerous shots hitting some of the rebels, who collapse to the floor as the high-speed bullets make their path straight through their bodies. One by one, more rebels fall as they rush for cover.
The Whitehawk door finally touches down and the operatives sprint to cover below. A storm of projectiles scream out, with almost every one hitting an operative, though most just graze the victim. One operative is propelled backwards by a dead-on bullet. Realizing the power of the X-78 rifles, the operatives aim towards the enemy cover and riddle it with bullets, killing most of the people hiding behind.
The following operation is quite easy. Most of the resistance was found when landing, and the operatives clean out the rest of the base. After finishing up, the bodies are counted on both sides.

Tiny request: I'd appreciate it if you included your program name in bold/big size font/whatever you want, as long as it's noticeable somewhere on your action post.
And a tinier request is to keep the research projects down to like 4 a turn. Preferably 1. This is entirely optional. If you want to do more than 4, feel free to. Just keep in mind you're making poor-tons-of-freetime-me spend a while on your reports.
Also, remember when I said the first turn took 1.5 hours? This one took roughly 4 hours. So I'm probably still going to need to do some retconning. Please tell me if you see anything that looks like it shouldn't be there.
