Home team

Do research on ways of training dogs to not bite friendlies. Also grab the DNA of a grisly bear's sense of smell and shove it in there.
((Did you know a grizzly bear can smell like four weeks into the past?))

I learn something new every day.

As do you. For example you learn that internet is not available here. While we have superluminal communication it still isn't instantaneous. Round trip to closest server takes a hour.
We don't have in particular dog training manuals in our databases, but we do have large amount of papers dedicated to how to domesticate animals. Most are based on Earth animals, but there's few theoretical papers about domesticating extra terrestrial species. Let's say you found something. Not exactly what you are looking for, but close enough.
As a reminder, you don't have that high nutrition slurry for you puppies when they are "born". Not anything to feed them with. You have only so many hands.

Now this enhanced sense of smell, this is more traditional gene modding and all related components are Earth origin so it isn't a problem.

Start wearing envirosuit, go outside.
You already are, for both account. As result of you shooting practice.
Go to the river east of the base.

There ain't any rivers nearby. The area where base ships are is a kilometer wide opening, surrounded by forest and hills. We moved the base few hundred kilometers to east, remember?

Red team

"Oh! There's something in the brook! I wonder if it's one of those strange ray-like creatures we found at our base site?"
Point out the thing.

You point it out, but closer look reveals it is not the same. It is about size of your palm.
Spoiler: Something fishy (click to show/hide)

"Fish with legs. Cool..." Micah says slowly. "Still ain't most awesome thing here."

Try to follow the group while reading the book.

Yeah, ignore the animal. The book goes now into detailed descriptions about those injuries explaining how bad effects will be if not treated fast enough. It includes videos of all scenarios. It ain't pretty.

"I agree with Schultz, let's not cross the water until we find the end of this passage."

Mark the way back, making sure it's on the left wall like they said, then keep heading forward.

Cromwell marks the left wall as he were instructed, and Cole nods approvingly.

The team then continues forward. They mark walls periodically, plant signal booster once and geologists gather few samples from walls. You spot those legged fishes few times in the water, but they swim away fast making capture impossible. Half hour later team arrives into another fork. This time it cuts off the path with small brook, or more like a ditch, from north. And few meter afterwards the main brook switches to northern side of tunnel. So far rather uneventful trip. Hopefully other team had better luck.

"Looks like we have to wet our boots. Magnetic field gets steadily stronger as we walk."

Green team

If it is a sea monster I hope it isnt as aggresive as some of the other critters

Follow team with caution

Your only hope it is larger than this tunnel.

Briana takes the air quality meter from doctor Helios and runs around with it for a while, trying to determine which direction team should go. Eventually she figures east might be best choice. So there you go.

Amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide in air drops fast until the meter can't even measure C2O anymore. On other hand amount of this unkown gas keeps rising up, reaching 5%. And then you enter into a cave.

Walls, roof and partially floor is covered in pink smoky crystals. On back of the cave, near roof is a one particularly large crystal; half meter long hexagonal pillar pointing at floor in middle of the cave. On its each side grows large amount of more hexagonal crystals, giving it a fractal structure. Rest of crystals seem to cover surface area radially from it, as if this large one were point of origin. Briana is literally jumping from joy.

"Oh my god ohmygod this is so awesome! Space crystals!"
"Eh, I'm dissappointed. Where's my monster?"
"But it is eating oxygen and carbon dioxide! It kinda is a monster! Don't you get it? This is sooo awesome!"

Briana then kneels next to one small crystal and pulls out some devices out of her backbag.

"Well, saying they do that might be a bit far fetched, but I'm certain they are related at least. I can't think any names right..." The device she's pointing at the crystal beebs. "Oh, this one warming up! Wonder why it does that."

((I'm fairly certain somethings going to explode very soon.))
Can I run a request trough the mothership? Also can I put the cloning process on hold? Is that a thing? Also take out mark 3 and dissect it. Can I fast clone plants?
EDIT: Broadcast this to the other research teams: "Hey guys! I need some info on the average ability of this planet to support earth-based plant life. Minerals in the ground and air helpful or harmful bacteria etc. I'm gonna make a biological abomination to feed my baby biological abominations."

Crawl under my bed.

You do so and find in progress some dust which makes you sneeze. Damn cleaners have not done their job properly.

Yeah, there's absolutely nothing else to do. Good night, please do not fear nightmares.

Yes you can. However depending nature of your request they might ignore you.
Only if you are using speed growth stuff for growing things. In this case you can cut off its supply and growth rate will drop to whatever is natural for it. If you wish to pause growth of your puppies then you are out of luck. They are already growing at natural rate, so best you can do is to cut off nutrient supply which will kill them.
Plants? Hmm... no. These things are originally designed for growing human tissues, but since humans are basically just animals it can handle other animals as well. Plants are too different.

Result of dissection is that you get shocked when you cut too close the generator organ. It's strong enough to make you jump backwards two meters. Learning from experience you find thick rubber gloves before continuing.
The organ is growing along the spine. Simple test proves it be able to produce jolt of 1200 volts and 3 amperes for 40 milliseconds at least. It is probably capable even higher numbers.
You find abnormal number of nerves for sensing pain. Your mutant might be very sensitive to pain.

You make your announcement. The line is silent for a minute. Then you hear voice of Dylan Flores, the big boss of biologists.
"Care to explain what you are doing exactly?"

Spoiler: SECRETS (click to show/hide)

Red team

Describe vocally the most gruesome parts into the radio.

"Did you know crushed limbs will cause excruciating pain? Every time you scream your limb moves a little causing more pain and more screaming in infinite loop. If bleeding is stopped in time but crushed arm is not amputated, as might happen to lone people in collapsed caves, it will eventually cause gangrene in the arm leading..."

"Shut it!" Nevah says as she knocks your head with a shotgun.
"That's not what we need to hear."

György shuts his mouth for a while. The team wades through the brook after Cole and continues to east. After another half hour of walking the tunnel finally changes into something different.

It opens into large open cave. Majority of floor surface is covered by underground lake. It is generous to call it a lake as it is only 20 meters wide and just barely 2 meter deep at best. The pond is fed by a small river from east and most of the water seems to go tunnel in north which leads downwards and soon completely goes underwater. Here's also one tunnel leading to south. Looks like it did used to be a brook long time ago.

Here are few animals. For example a frog with clawed feet running on shores, odd soft shelled half sphere creature with eight legs swimming in the pond, the previously seen two legged fish, and something small and multi legged twiggling on other side of the pond.

Micah stares at the frog until Nevah pushes him forward where Cole went to examine walls.

"Rubies." he says after examining the southern wall. "I guess we will bring tomorrow some bigger equipment here."

Green team

"Wait, are you saying these crystals somehow consume oxygen and carbon dioxide? Amazing! What should we name them?"

Grab one of the smallest crystals.

You give the crystal quite hard yank before it breaks off. If it is warming up you can't feel it. What you do feel is a slowly inceasing vibration as you keep staring and shining your lights at it.

There's no way crystal would start vibrating just from looking at it, right...?

"I think we should move back away from the crystals"
move back slowly from the crystals

"Yeah, let's fall back for moment!" Erick says and drags Briana away while Mark does same to Alex.

The team backs away from the cave and waits for few minutes. Nothing happens. Even the crystal doctor Helios is carrying gradually stops vibrating, but then again nobody is looking at it.

"Nothing happened. I think it should be safe to back."
"I suppose. Everyone, activate thermal overlay in your helmet cams. It should give us hint when it is time to run again."

You left from outpost at 9:00. Time is now ~11:00.

((Do we have stasis banks or something?))
Request a book on training hunting dogs with an explanation as to why. Then start fast growing elephant kidneys. Try to bring mark 3's pain tolerance to average. Also set up a meat grinder to grind the kidneys into paste after cloning and put in in a trough.
I have created a breed of fast growing functionally immortal super hunting dogs. However I forget that they need ridiculous amounts of protein shortly after being born and so I plan to make a super plant for sustainable breeding.

Elephant kidneys? What I will learn today?))

Dylan Flores: "Professional answer for your question is definite yes, Earth plants can survive on this planet. However I can't tell if bacterias will become a problem. Maybe.
But that is beside the point. You are not permitted to release out any life forms that are not native to this planet. No ecological catastrophe will be occur under my watch. I don't mind you creating new mutated life forms, but only as long as they stay strictly in your laboratories."
