YOU ARE INFECTED and welcomed into secrets! The plot is finally rolling!
Here's some background reading for you and results of what actually happened. Please do read it before posting next action.
How much 'fluid' is necessary for a successful infection? What are the rules on that? Can I just spit on someone's food?
The Mind answers: "Considering that birds didn't really spit that much into your mouth,I imagine very little is needed. Spitting into someone's food should be good enough, just make sure no one catches you doing that. Rules? I don't know for sure. As I believe I'm bacterial in nature and accounting for the facts, that I told those carnivores just to bite and salivating into our legs, I'm led to believe that I'm not airborne bacteria. All my instincts before sapience were to spread by being eaten or being delivered by saliva."
When I go to the dispensary note how the thing is supplied. Don't poke around or anything just see what I can see while I'm eating.
When I go to the lab, take one hypo and fill it with my blood. Note where the supply of needles is. If Froggy is TOTALLY DISTRACTED, stick him in the back of the neck with the needle and slam the plunger. He'll be KO'd right, just like when the bird hit me? It won't be broadcasted in public that I did that to him even if he doesn't pass out right away? That'd suck if he turned around and saw me before he went down and that was described in the public turn, because then I'd be hunted and quarantined even though they'd have no logical reason to do so.
Er, this is all assuming I'm alone with Froggy, but I guess Flameboy would be standing around in there too if his tests would be in the same area..
The Mind informs you that the bird has an organ that produces powerful electric shocks and advices against this plan. This plan would most likely infect him, but it takes few turns for The Mind to take hold, so... I predict problems and hunting.
Oh for fuck's sake.. Stupid pikabirds! D:<
What about darts? Can I put blood in those? I'm asking you mister GM not the mind thingy.
Most certainly you can, with a little of tinkering.
Final Turn:
When I go to the dispensary note how the thing is supplied. Don't poke around or anything just see what I can see while I'm eating.
When I go to the lab, take one hypo and fill it with my blood, then pocket it. Note where the supply of needles is, also the supply of extra blood.
Drink dispensers are refilled periodically when they are running out of source materials. They were refilled last time just before the base departed from the mothership. Water will probably refilled before next evening as it is main ingredient for all drinks.
'Supply of extra blood' as in additional vials of your own?
And if you are planning to assault Dave, then you should note that he has his enviro-suit on so piercing it wont be easy. He also has a tranquilizer pistol.
Go get something to drink at the dispensary. Try not to feel sick. Blurgh.
The drink dispensers can produce many types of drinks, so you order water, cool and refreshing. Not that it makes you feel any better.
((both))
Do some dna decryptions on both the fish and grasshopper. Have the computer check for abnormal similarities.
Dna mapping in process. Dna mapping done. Fish and grasshopper has exactly as much similarities as one would expect from fish and grasshopper, which is exactly none. Except the part that controls formation of skeletons, and even there is just two fragments that decode proteins used in process.
((Shall we retcon that Jonathan got something to eat last night?))
"Guni has been released, for the moment, as she has displayed no additional symptoms once recovering from paralysis. I've yet to see her this morning; going to check up on her as we speak. I wouldn't know if she's eaten or not, of course, as she's no longer been in the med-bay."
Check up on Guni's condition. Upon seeing that she has a fever, take a blood sample and run more tests. Ask if she's suffered any other symptoms. Give her a dose of an acetaminophen.
Another general message.
"Guni has begun suffering from a fever. This may be linked to either bacterial or viral infections, the avian or insectoid creatures (Which we should really come up with a name for), or possibly the wolf-like creatures populating the forest."
((So you don't have to look it up, Tylenol is an example of an acetaminophen. Also, WebMD has turned out to be an invaluable tool for roleplaying this character.))
(So basically its all about hiding symptoms rather than fixing the problem. Ok.)
Yeah, Guni has a minor fever so you take another blood sample and five her some medicine and tell her to go. Results of test is as follows: Her blood contains four bacterias and one virus that are not from Earth. One of the bacterias is the one you are curently making a vaccine for, György has request vaccine for second and third one is marked in database as "harmless" by György. Last bacteria and virus are both unknown. Her immune system is fighting against all but harmless one, but is slightly overtaxed by new encounters so her recovery rate is slower than normal.
We can call the dogs Biggus Dickus and the birds Assholium Rectumas, seriously fuck the forest. Take whatever the doc pushes. After this I should just go to my room and turn the cold on, get some rest.. But we have to solve this, the chief needs to go find that bird. Go to the lab, draw some of my own blood while watching Froggy Ninja do his thing. Maybe I can think of something to do with this, the toxin must be in here somewhere.
You down his placebo pillers and head to the labs. Dave is there, skimming through some DNA and making comparisons. You get some vials and needles from cabinets and draw your blood. At this point Dave gets excited, he probably found something nice.
"If you think it's safe to not need her to be in quarentine, I'll trust your judgement. Do not let her leave the base, for her sake and ours. And tell her to get some damn rest. That's an order."
He wasn't sure if he technically held any authority over them. Normally, he knew he wouldn't, but things changed when people got injured or became potential threats. He seriously hoped she hadn't become one.
Head down to engineering and see if any of those good-for-nothing lazy bastards are actually working on my damn request.
For lazy bastards these guys are working really hard, already welding a frame for launcher into two-man ATV. Launcher is basically nothing more than three barrels held together with metal bands. Techinicians have disassembled triggers and mashed together new one. They tell you that it has some delicate timers to launch granades from all barrels in quick succession.
Trailer is loaded with three netguns and about 20 nets. These nets are really on borderline of being cloth, you could catch even those damn grasshoppers with them.
Ignore everyone and everything, investigate the place where the ship landed.
Ignoring all commotion you get down into surface and start crawling on all fours. It takes some time but finally motion detector in your helmet gives them away. A small green bugs, just barely 3 millimeter long, some of them occasionally turning pink when close to each other. Touching them makes them flash.
In a si-fi game everything is a potential threat
get some breakfast and remember not to have as much to drink next time. Clean up and study Guni's suit camera to try to get a view on why she took off her helmet and hopefully a shot of what knocked her out
Mmm, breakfast... Good thing they finally got around to alter alcohol so it won't cause hangover anymore, otherwise you would feel rather miserable right now. Guni's helmet is in infirmary so you go get it from there and head to labs to extract whatever it recorded. You connect it to computers and swear to gods as you find out it doesn't work at all. Probably that's why she took it off. After looking over its surface you find a small burned spot. Maybe it has something to do with the problem?
((I was more referring to having a pack for our own use.))
Well, design a creature you want and explain cases where you would want to use them. But such completely customized creature will take many turns to create. Also if you are going to speed up its growth then it will be brain dead, and otherwise it will take so long that this game is probably over when it is usable.
All research units on the planet (at least those who are awake) respond to Pendle's alert. Almost everyone acknowledge possible danger, but note that they have not noticed a single case of aggression. At best animals were slightly curious and then just ignored them. Bio teams tell that animals showed curiosity, and in case of one species even friendliness by licking. Eventually all creatures began ignoring them as well, maybe their curiosity was satisfied.
One Bio team announces that they noticed momentary shock across all creatures they were observing approximately 5 hours ago. They want to know if anyone else notice anything similar.
Geo 5 answers György's earlier question about chemicals in soil. They say they are in very similar biome as you and soil is completely safe for walking bare feet. Not that they recommend it.
3: Guni's personal flyer
Currently we have following samples on ship:
* Springy grass (Partially studied)
* Soil samples (Studied)
* Seven corpses of large four eyed birds (Studied)
* Aquatic creature. (Studied)
* Two corpses of black wolf-creature. (Studied)
* Grasshopper-type insect. (Studied)
* Possibly contaminated blood samples of black wolf-creatures.
* Additional set of blood and tissue samples from wolf-creatures.
Currently doing following ethically questionable experiments:
* Infrared/four eyed full body human clone with fused ribs. Using Theron's DNA as a base. Basic results visible later today.
Completed and unchecked things:
* Vaccine against two bacterias found on grass.
* Infrared vision eyes. Using Dave's DNA as a base.
