Name: Dave D. Davidson
Description: Dave grew up in a wealthy family that owned an asteroid mining company. Throughout the years he saw many miners with both cybernetic and biological prosthetic limbs. He was always fascinated with replacing body parts. He was chosen to come here as initial probes showed some Mega fauna with incredibly different features despite having enough similarities that they appear to be the same species and he came to study potential applications in cybernetic and biological enhancements.
Role: Up to GM (Generally not caring about who's in charge. I just want me some Meld.)
Fixed. I'm referring to elephant sized or larger with entire limbs being apparently plants. Also gahd dammit I was replaced while I was away. Do they have Samples of earth life to use as test subjects?

While we do have large creatures here none of them is larger than elephant, mostly due larger gravity. "Entire limbs being apparently plants"... It's better if you don't make that big assumptions. The creature generator isn't tuned to generate plant-animal hybrids, not actively anyway. But who knows what it spits out.

I'll put you on waitlist for now, until I feel comfortable having more players.

Copy the result to my computer and/or PDA, and send the results back to my supervisors, Geologists and Chemists, if there are any.

Research deeper into the grass. What type of bacteria are there?
I know even less than you, probably. I guess into how the various pathogen and bacteria could be dangerous.

(Technically Alex Raman (Yourmaster) is your supervisor.)
You copy results to the servers and send link to staff.geo@hr8643-346b.spc. Hopefully someone has enought time to take a look.

Well, there is over 50 bacterial types in the plant. About 60% of them seem to be in mutual symbiotic relationship with the plant, 28% are in commensalistic relationship and rest seem just to hang on surface of plants. You assume it is part of their life cycle, eventually ending into digestive system of some herbivorous creature.

Almost all seem to be harmless to Earth based life forms, but there's two of you are not completely sure. There's human tissue samples stored just for cases like this.

"Great." Guni thought, "I guess bug catching will have to wait."

Look alive you security bozos, I think I can see some predators heading towards that herd. I'm gonna take a closer look, see if I can scare them off.

Fly in close to the group of four other creatures and pass just over them. Try to identify them.

You do a slow fly by at very low altitude of 5 meters and try to get good look at the creatures. These new creatures are around 70 cm tall at shoulders. They have soft movement like felines, but they don't relly look like one. Most of the torso is covered in fluffy hair, color ranging from light to dark brown in smooth wave-like pattern. The head is actually very cute, resembling that of hamster. Their ears are conical, very flexible and have tuft of black hair sticking from tip. Their cuteness is slightly offset with a rather long nose. And you could swear they have some sort of antennae on their heads.

Only way they react to your bypass is by pointing their ears towards you for a moment and then back forward.

"It was in a net! Why the hell did you shoot it if it's in a damn net?"
Yell at team mates, then shoot another bird if I can.

You curse twitchy trigger fingers of your team mates. Not that yours were any better, but at least you have non-lethal weapon.

There is no birds around. They all left when slaughter began.

Bring it up and around, close to me.

Pilots inform you that your command is disregard of safety instructions and will be reported if someone asks about it and they will refuse to land near humans. The base slowly lifts into air with loud hum, scaring the bovines away, and starts circling around you high above.

>You have one new message

Head for the river, and take a sample from it.
"If one of you aren't too busy with the approaching animals, could a security member keep an eye on me? Just so I don't get eaten by some sort of horrid alien beast."
"I'm heading over to escort you"
head over and make sure he is safe while he takes samples
"It was in a net! Why the hell did you shoot it if it's in a damn net?"
Yell at team mates, then shoot another bird if I can.
"Hey we don't know anything about them and living creatures require a massive amount of care like specific tempeture, specific foods, and designed living areas to keep healthy we can get more birds but without knowledge about the species we can't care for them properly"

The man in bloody suit escorts Jonathan to the river. Lucky enough no horribly aliens assault them, although there's occasional movement in the grass. Mark manages to catch a glimpse of something small with grey and brown fur. Jonathan is done with water sampling when he sees the thing in water again. This time he isn't taken by suprise and observes it more closely.

The thing doesn't have any eyes he can see or any other orifices either. Its skin appears to be very smooth with exception of the greenish... tail, which is covered with scales. Only the green part has scales, not the flappy membrane attached to the tail and its more bulky body. It moves very slowly along bottom of the river. You feel like you could catch it with bare hands if you tried. Knowing Guni's love for fish, she would probably appreciate if you catch one for her.

Quickly stick my hand in the water and take it out. Note how it reacts. If it seems scared or neutral to the action, then try to quickly grab it by the tail, and throw it on the shore.

That was obviously an exaggeration. I was trying to emphasize how obvious it was.

Oh... That's sad to hear.

I'll turn your character into NPC and then fade him out in a way or another. And I suppose title "Head of Security" will soon fall on Cromwell. In mean time:

Pray for it to not explode violently, and add some bacteria from the sample to human tissue and watch the results in contained enviroment.

Mark points his smg into water and Jonathan prepares for barehanded fishing. He waits until the creature is very close and then strikes. Water around the creature turns black at the moment his hands touch it. Jonathan can feel it wriggling in his grip, trying to get away, so he pulls it out and flings it on the shore, his grip slipping on its slippery skin.

It lands with hard thud just beyond rocks and it wriggle and twitch for a while there. Mark pokes it with his gun and then flips it on its back. It doesn't have eyes even on its bottom side, only a mouth. At least you think it is a mouth. Considering black liquid oozing from it it may be its ink ejection hole. For all you know it may as well be its asshole, considering lack of any other orifices on it. From this point of view the black liquid might be its feces. Jonathan now notices his hand is dyed black.

Fuck this. Head to Bovineville.
Quote from: Theron Drakosen
Call someone down to collect the corpses.
Go with expedition leader, ready to shoot at certainly hostile bovines.

(In case you didn't bring enough sample containers you can call NPC's on ship to collect your loot or at least drop some containers. I was going to tell you this next turn, but since SilverDragon had to leave might as well mention it this way.)
Theron calls people on the ship: "Hey, someone come down and collect these corpses before any scavengers come!"
"How many corpses?"
"Six and half."

The slaughtering team leaves then to the bovineville, which is moving to west now with slow jog. Now that they are closer they can see their sharp horns, tip unpleasantly just below your sternum. They could easily throw you into air and it definitely would hurt, no matter how well enviro-suits shields you. Fur on bovines is very short near their back end, growing longer near their head. Growth in length is so linear that you could probably use simple mathematics to calculate length in any part of their body and be certain you got it right without checking.

While the herd jogs to west you notice single bovine running to north.

Alex Raman:
>You have two new messages.
Cromwell:
>You have one new message.
Theron:
>You have one new message.

Guni looks up from the controls long enough to see the base taking off. Uh, why is the ship leaving?

Well, the ship won't move without orders so it means someone gave the command. Only ones with authority to do so are expedition leader Alex and that slightly unstable head of security, Theron. It was most likely Theron who gave the order, you bet. During the trip to this system he slipped his unusual opinion about the planet.

The other thing you see is much more interesting. One bovine turns to north and accelerates to quite notable speed while rest of the herd keeps going to west. The pack of hamster headed creatures sprint after it proving them to be predators and give the bovine merry chase up to treeline. There the ox-creature slows down, stops and kneels down on the ground, the predators surround it and very quickly tear its throat open. The ox-creature doesn't even resist, giving in to fate calmly. After waiting about one minute the predators start eating it.

Pray for it to not explode violently, and add some bacteria from the sample to human tissue and watch the results in contained enviroment.

You go to cold storages, retrieve few tissue samples and return to your lab. Praying for non-explosive results you start your experiment inserting the bacterias, and dive into cover. When explosions fail to manifest you thank gods and go back to observing the experiment like a good scientist.

As it turns out both bacterias do survive in human tissues, although they have quite hard time in unusual enviroment. Immune system makes short work of them so you think they would cause to humans a minor fever at best. The doctor, Jonathan Pendle, could make vaccine against them with this data. It might not be necessary, but its better to not take risks.

((That wasn't meant to be my action but: eh. I was hoping to provoke some conversation.))

One of the cows just took off, and- Yeah he's toast. The pack of predators just picked him off. Hell if I know why he left the herd, he didn't seem frightened or anything. This is weird, so exercise some fucking caution for me alright boys? I can't help you from way up here..

Give them a quick description of the predators. Fly over the forest and see what else I can see on the ground below.
