Sigmund waited through the debrief without speaking, his face revealing little of his thoughts. He listened without a comment to the suggestions of the other nobles, and to the Emperor's commands. When Valerian finished speaking, however, he spoke up.

"It will be an honor to lead an exploration fleet, Your Grace. I will notify the Mirrodan Fleetworks to prepare my Cruisers for launch as soon as this meeting is through. However, I would like to raise a certain concern. Sending our cruisers out will be extremely costly for my house - our net income will be cut down by over eighty percent for as long as they are out exploring. With that in mind, I will require some financial support from the Throne to keep afloat for the next few years. A tax exemption, for starters - otherwise my balance will tip into the negative... And the upkeep for some of the flotillas would be appreciated, though I can manage without it."

Later that day, the missives and tasks for all imperial family members have been sent out. It was time that they took up thier posts and begun building the empire.

Jekaterina Rastyqua is sent to assess mutant threat on Vengenace. 2 armies/fleets raised for her.
Luthias II is sent t ooversee acquisition and revenues of salvage rights in orbit of Vengenace.
Frederic Hartwing is sent to Si'kar as a diplomat to House Nova. He shall inquire about possible vassalization.
Cynric is sent as an Imperial observer with al-Hazar mission to unknown worlds.
Ida Hartwing shall accompany Alruna Morgarten as an Imperial observer in the mission to Triumvirate.

Alruna nodded slightly in acknowledgement of the Emperor's orders.  "I thank you for the trust you repose in my abilities, and I shall not let you down.  I will return with the Triumvirate in our hands, regardless of means."

Five fleets are raised by House Al-Hazar. Sigmund Al-Hazar takes command and sets out to explore the  system of Patria, surveying every unexplored object and making contact with any inhabitants found.
Before leaving, Sigmund sends a message to Lady Alruna of Morgarten, asking to hold a meeting in her chambers to discuss a dynastic alliance.

House Hartwing

thousands of boots march in lockstep as for the first time since one-hundred years Rastyqua marches again. The Imperial Consort is leading the first foray into the lands which were long deemed unrecoverable. In an ostentatious display of wealth the Imperial Court decided to outfit these new scout regiments with specialized duskmantle armors, an entirely new technology, secifically designed for the harsh realities of Vengeance and down there able to match power-armoured guards which had problems with the dust gathering in the servo-motors.

Several weeks into the scouting operations, it seems a total success: 3 Warlords have been identified among the Mutants. Currently the one most dangerous has beend etermined to be a particular terrible looking monstrosity by the name of Harg. he commands three fiefs and a total of 2 armies. [successful Scout Operation]

Something goes awry...a month into the oeprations, the first scout teams begin to vanish. [Stealth-Check Failed] And it is not two eves later that Jekaterina is forced to fight a desperate Rear-Engagements while trying to evacuate her men. Finally at St.Ahrimans Cloister it comes to a battle

Battle at St.Ahrimans Cloister

Immediately after the Council: With Azores
Post-council, with Lady Morgarten
After the council meeting, as the various lords went about their business, Seralt approached Alruna, bowing to her as he did with the emperor before he began to speak to her.
"My lady, I would be honoured if you would grant me the time to speak to you about a few things."
Seralt's approach to Alruna did not surprise her.  It was possible that he had already seen Lord Adrian de Treming approach her, and even if he hadn't, there were other political reasons for the two to talk.  She knew that both sides sought support for recognition as the senior Azores branch from all noble houses, great and small, including her own.  Moreover, the two of them were the only ones to speak out and suggest specific plans after the information had been fully laid out.  "Lord Seralt, I would be pleased to accept your request, and honored that you seek my company.  I'm afraid I have some prior arrangements for this evening, but I believe I may have some time to speak privately."

Well after both Azores meetings: Meeting Sigmund Al-Hazar
Shortly after its receipt, Alruna's secretary immediately brought the message from Lord Sigmund to her attention.  The attention from a powerful and distinguished family was surprising, but she was not entirely accustomed to these rarefied airs, yet.  Alruna immediately sent a response to arrange a meeting at the earliest convenience

For the most part, Seralt wasn't acting like he had seen Adrian approach Alruna, or atleast acting like he did not at the very least. "Thank you kindly for accepting my lady. As for those arrangements, I wish you well on those, and I hope you enjoy them.

At any rate, I did wish to speak to you privately about two things. The first was arranging a marriage between our two houses, in which if agreed to would need a lot of discussion in regards to the heirs, succession and the like.

The second is asking for a loan from your house funds. Between the rather poor straits of my houses' treasury, and the fact that I'm assuming that dealing with the slavery on agri-prime is going to be expensive to completely sort out in the timeframe that's been set."
Seralt said, his tone rather cheerful at first, before descending into a more businesslike tone.

"I see.  I shall have to take it under significant consideration."  She smiled slightly.  "I mean no offense, but after your little outburst during the coronation, I do not believe there is a man or woman alive who does not know your political position regarding the Church, and I am aware that my house is of no great rank or longevity compared to your own, in spite of our very recent elevation.  Any political match between our families would have to be very carefully guided to ensure we do not overstep."  Specifically, she thought mentally, her sister would explode like a contact nuke at the thought of any political marriage with godless heretics, but that was certainly not something Lord Seralt needed to be aware of.  "In spite of this, you have many ambitions, and I believe you have a clear vision of how you wish our Empire to grow.  I would not be opposed to a marriage between our Houses in principle, but I would request time to consider the matter carefully."

"As for your second request, to say that I possess a certain amount of funds would be no great lie, but there is the issue of the mission to the Triumvirate.  The merchants there do not respect blood, but gold, and it will be probable that I would require immediate access to my House's full resources.  Still, I cannot say I am averse to the idea of restoring all of the worlds of the Empire to their former glory, not merely my own.  What kind of terms were you considering?"

"That is a fair thing. And if anything, I was going to propose that, instead of jumping into it immediately, that you'd spend some time with my son Sorak so see if you got along with him. If the pair of you did get on well enough then I would have gone from there with a formal agreement for marriage with all the paperwork that would entail. Besides, while at the moment my house is weakened, given the size and resources it can potentially muster I'd say that we'd certainly be the strongest house temporally and such an ally would certainly boost the prestige of yours, even with any detractors of ours."

"And as for the loan, I humbly request around five credits, at an interest rate of about... twenty to thirty percent? Would that sound fair to you at all?"

"That seems like a fair assessment, but I'm afraid I cannot give you an answer immediately.  I will, however, speak to my chamberlain regarding our ability to free up the necessary funds, and send you a proper response via courier as soon as I am able.  I hope this is acceptable?"

Adrian and Jareld walk in a local park and speak in hushed tones away from anyone. Two body guards from the Houseguard shadow them making sure no one is near enough to hear what they have to say.

"Son, I want you to start up a police network. Most of it is to help with keeping law breakers broken or behind bars. But i want a special sub-unit to deal with any Xeno-Terroist Networks operating in our lands. I want that sub-unit to be as milatarized as possible but with a focus on gathering information and evidence against terror suspects. If they can find a network or organization then better. If they can't then we'll keep them around to watch over the Xeno's. I suspect my brother will free them but i want to make sure they are ready to be freed.

I'll be creating a new school system from the ground up with a emphasis on loyalty and military training. I'm going to call it the Academia militar and i'll be looking for companies to migrate here by offering a tax incentive for the first five years.
"

After the serious bit the two Azores talk more openly about the meeting with House Mortagen in the evening. They trail of taking a scenic route to the agreed upon restraunt, as there is much time.

Create a police HQ to deal with crime and a special sub-unit to keep an eye out for any terrorist actions.

Create a Military Academy similar to west point. Students will learn how to wear cadet versions of the military uniforms but are not military enlisted at all. Make sure that teachers are either very smart intellectuals, Priest teaching the basics of reading, and military sergeants coaching their fitness.

Meet with business leaders in the capital and at home and offer them tax deductions for the first 5 years if they choose to migrate their businesses in my lands.

((If I may inquire, what are the inheritance laws of house Morgarten?))

Sigmund stopped at the door of Lady Alruna's quarters, greeting the guards.

"A meeting with Lady Alruna was arranged. May I come in?"

He was followed by a small group of his own men, but what struck out about him was that he was dressed formally - more formally, in fact, than he had been during the coronation ceremony, where he had chosen to go with a general's clothes. Here he was as a diplomat, silk and velvet making up a fashionable ensemble.

He seemed quite uncomfortable, but such was the way of things.

Meeting with Lord Sigmund

((Technically heirs are appointed by the head of the House, but by long-standing tradition, the eldest child is typically appointed.  For a younger child or more distant family member to be appointed as heir instead is not unprecedented, but is rather rare and will almost certainly give offense to the child(ren) being passed over due to the implications made regarding their basic competence outside of very particular circumstances typically instigated by the child in question - e.g., where the eldest child abdicates their role to take up vows in the Church or undertake some other action that would disqualify them from succession.  For the moment, Alaine is heir, but everyone expects this to change after Alruna weds and has her firstborn.))

Only two guards stood there in the colors of House Morgarten, their uniforms stark and utilitarian without any of the fripperies of most rulers.  They nodded politely, as though they had been warned in advance of his arrival, but somewhat warily at the escort, which considerably outnumbered them.  It appeared that the elder of the two had some authority in the matter, however, as with a single hand gesture, the other guard stood aside, while he personally escorted the company into the main sitting room, announcing his presence as "Lord Sigmund Al-Hazar".  Alruna was already in the room to greet them, having been warned in advance by signal from the door, along with a single servant.  She too had dressed formally, in an outfit very similar to that which she had worn at the coronation, yet with enough variation to be recognizably different.  A moment's brief amusement passed as she noticed Lord Sigmund's ornate garb, supremely fashionable and flattering, yet one that he seemed unsuited for; the irony was not lost on her that here she, to be sent as a diplomat yet dressed to mimic a soldier from a bygone age, was now meeting the veteran soldier dressed as a diplomat.  How much of his own outfit was mimicry, and how much was real?  "Lord Sigmund, it is an honor to meet you.  Do you wish for any refreshment?"

After the meeting with Seralt: Dinner with the de Tremings
Alruna left the meeting noncommittal, yet with multiple notions moving through her head.  Here there was opportunity, but also danger, for taking sides in the Azores feud would be a great risk, and the reward not yet certain.  Her sister Alaine waited for her by the entrance.  "Sister, you were delayed?"

"A brief meeting with one of our peers," she responded.  "It may have some import, but we will discuss it this evening, along with the rest of the day's business.  For now, we are expected to meet with the Azores' collateral branch, de Treming.  Have they sent the restaurant where we are to meet, or will they be meeting us here?"

"I took the liberty of making arrangements, as they have left the palace grounds for a spell."  As the two of them walked out of the Imperial Palace, their escorts, two House Morgarten guards for each, fell into line around them.  "Rather than requesting they return to escort us personally, I offered to meet them at our destination at the appointed hour."  She grinned.  "I guessed you'd rather do it that way, Rue."

"You know me too well, Ally."  Alruna smiled as well, albeit more subdued.  "At any rate, we'll need not to give offense.  The de Tremings possess great wealth, though they number few.  We won't be bought and sold by anyone, but we shouldn't needlessly antagonize them, either."

"They're also opposed to that Lord who spoiled the coronation with his ridiculous call for secularization," Alaine mused thoughtfully. "Rebellious, though; they say Lord Adrian is the one who caused the split, and they say his hatred for family is second to none."

Alruna's smile grew a bit tight.  "Now, Ally, let's not be hasty.  There's also much to be said about the senior Azores branch, and not all of it for ill, Seralt's injudicious words aside.  It may benefit our family better to avoid any entanglements in either Azores branch, at least for the time being.  However, for now," she said, looking out at the evening city, "we'll meet with Lord Adrian, see what he desires of us, and perhaps even enjoy a light repast."

"That is acceptable. Though by doing so our plans are slightly delayed, this is tolerable, and give us time to prepare the first step. Now, I beg my leave of you unless there was something else you wished to discuss my lady."
