Character done. Starting gear, if accepted:

2 daggers, 3 sheaths and a loot bag, all made in such a way that they can be worn under clothing inconspicuously, a more conspicuous bag, different sets of clothing and make-up (disguises), some non-perishable food and drink, including alcohol, some rope, a tinderbox.

The section of the post with the two different choices is a little... messed around. What are the two options again? They both talk about lords and military, I think, so why is the poll talking about heading to a gold mine?

The first option is to head to the gold mine of the Valerian lords, there in need of guards.
The second is to go to Orthisk and help them against some sea born raiders.

Where ever it is to go you dont have to do exactly whats stated so if you want  to try and steal a gold shipment or some thing thats fine.

It's gear rolls time, the party is in a small town, you have some money and can freely go shopping, and to top it off you didn't ask for all that much.
So i haven had to roll any substitutions, NAV you have a vest of iron lamellar and cat fur hat, armor is just to vague.

In light of all the random items people want, really just to be on the safe side, like tinder boxs, im going to bering in  new rule.
Reasonable Possessions

I it is reasonable for you have an item, buy, find or make it, then you can have / use it.

If there a fight in a knights hall, mid feast then you can grab a tapestry from the wall or use a chandelier rope to leap past some guards.

If need to scale the walls of a jungle keep, then you can use some vines for a rope.
Your journey to Orthisk takes two long weeks of slow walking in the hot summer sun.

Slowly above the green fertile that surround Orthisk, the fortress of Tyrfingrson the bear, the self styled King of the Orthisklands rises, it's red sand stone walls like a blood covered mountain.

The city of Orthisk lies below the fortress, upon entering, the signs of the raiders are clear to see, not in pillaged temples or grieving widows, but in the deprivation.

The shop are half empty, and any thing but the most basic of supples appear to be unattainable at any thing other than the most extortionist rates.

At the inner wall, you are meet by a guards man, well armed with a long leaf bladed sword and wearing a coat of polished bronze scales , he is clearly in charge of gate way.

After paying a small toll to pass the gate you are free to explore the city of Orthisk.
